Question: What year did transfer windows come in?

Have we ever had a deal done ahead of the window opening?

Exactly this, we never do deals before the windows open with the player coming in on the first day. I see other clubs do it like the RS but we seem to be scratching around for signings on the last day of the window....

To put that in to any sort of context, if we signed the player on the 1st day of the window we still would have played 20 Premier League games. Not many games to make an impact, obviously the later they come in the less games they have left.

Did you just sell our entire back line in one window except for Godfrey? And Coleman who should have retired years ago and a bunch of kids with about 4 games between them? Ffs

We can both dress it up however we want I suppose.

Id say IF Mina goes due to his wages/contract/injuries and IF Digne goes due to Benitez then were 2 men down.

Then we absolutely need a starting LB and a starting CB.

Lets say we then have:

LB: New LB / Nkounkou
CB: New CB / Godfrey / Branthwaite

Do we 'need' a 4th choice (that extremely rarely plays)? Or could we just have Welch as 4th choice around the squad gaining experience?

If its the latter then we could sell Keane and Holgate, bank the cash/wages.

Plus of course we will 'lose' Kenny and have Coleman as backup. Thats a certainty.

So Jan/ summer (not one, but two windows) we move on:

Mina
Digne
Keane
Holgate
Kenny

We go with:

LB: New player / Nkounkou
CB: New player / Godfrey / Branthwaite / Welch
RB: New Player / Coleman

£60mil+ fees / £300k+ wages to use on 3 players.

Theres a lot of value in the market at the moment.

Think u undervalued our players there.
Mina easy 25-30 mil
Keane 20
Holgate 20 still young

Mina: Only 18months left / £100k+ wages / injury issues / theres a lot of risk for us if we keep him and he suffers one 'mid-long' term injury.

Keane is a donkey and probably earning £75k ish a week.

Holgate is a squad player and again probably on £50-60k a week so im being conservative at £10mil...maybe £15mil at a push.

Lol at how specific that is.

It's Zat so he has probably worked it out based on months left of contract and what not

lol no it was listed in a couple of dodgy sites specifically at £17.1mil in midweek. Possibly due to exchange rate GBP/EUR.

Why are people saying Keane will be moved on?

Because hes absolutely dreadful.

No brain.
Slow on the turn
No leadership
Doesnt know how to play offside
Zero physicality
No athleticism
50p head
Love to pass to the opposition
Forwards enjoy facing him

Essentially a lumbering oaf of a 'player' who belongs in the championship.

Quite frankly one of the worst mistakes of Brands' tenure was extending this oaf's contract.

Fair enough. I didn't know if there was a rumour of him going. I think it will be hard to sell him personally.

Patterson has played:

League: 130mins
Europe: 114mins

With Gerrard moving to Villa and him not getting game time, could we follow up with another £8-10mil bid?

I have a mate who is a big Rangers fan who rates this kid extremely highly.
