People saying Rafael doesn't like fullbacks to charge forward are wrong. He likes speedy fullbacks who can fly up and down the wing. The difference is he likes the whole team to track back and defend.

"The difference between last year and this year is that we have wingers with ability and pace who can make the difference on their own.

"Demarai is an example and he usually plays on the left, coming inside scoring goals, so the full-back we used has to take up a role depending on the players around"

Words from the man himself. Doesn't want full on attacking fullbacks because we have wingers with pace doing that.

Basically... he'll want Wan Bissaka-type players.

Aaron's will be off the cards (good). Dumfries is basically a winger too.

I like Digne, but he’s not fast and lacks dynamism. Maybe a good time to sell

£35 millions and I would drive him somewhere meself.

Would love £10 millions for that useless lump Holgate as well.

Hard to say what our defenders are 'worth' in the market.

£35mil makes sense but as its a high profile situation i think we'll see £23-25mil from a Digne sale.

Holgate £10mil, Keane £12.5mil and Mina £17.1mil.

Over the next two windows i would try and sell all of them. We'd have Nkounkou, Godfrey and Branthwaite in the squad at LB and CB.

£62.5mil and £300k in wages to sign starting LB, RB and a CB to compete with Godfrey/Branthwaite.

Ive said this a couple of times. It looks like he wants a wall at the back which launches the ball at the wide players or attacking midfielder very quickly and creates within a very quick move.

Id imagine two Wan-Bissaka types (e g Godfrey) to stop opposition wingers and two big defenders at centre back...aggressive and physical.

If thats the case then it shouldnt mean we dont bring in younger quality players. It should mean we still need pace, athleticism and players who can play targeted long passes.

Its going to be interesting to see what kind of full backs he targets in January.

Think u undervalued our players there.
Mina easy 25-30 mil
Keane 20
Holgate 20 still young

Are we aloud to spend any money in January? I'm guessing Fiancial fair play will stop us again
It'd be a risk unless we sell; even then, it depends on a lot. The projections suggest that we're already quite significantly over PL sustainability rule.

Any sales would have to be used to reduce the deficit or we're simply offsetting the problem further down the line.

I agree ?% with you on this. It's just not realistic to demand signings like Martial and Ramsey, who are both widely rumoured to be on over £200k per week - we simply can't afford to add another £400k per week to the payroll when we are already losing money. We can't get rid of enough of our existing players to create that amount of salary space and still have enough players to put a team on the pitch!

January will see us bring in a loan or two, and a modest transfer for a younger player if we're lucky. Anything more than that will involve sales first and anyone we sell will need replacing anyway.
