EFC JC

Player Valuation: £50k
Just wondering if anyone has contacts in the club and know's if we have anything set up in Australia with regards to summer coaching camps etc. Football is on the rise there and potentially some gems will be found if they are given the correct training. Any info would be great.

Cheers

Tosh Farrell used to be head of international football at EFC but he's gone to some coaching job in the USA - within the last month.

I'd say contact the club and they'll no doubt either list what they have (partners wise) or they'll take account of your interest in possibly getting something setup.

email the club and they'll put you through to relevant dept.

I know Arsenal have one. But, for the cost of it, you might as well fly over to Blighty & try out...do a Timmy for us!

............some people may know better than I, but haven't we got a young Australian lad on the books now?...who's supposed to be rather good?

I'll get in touch and find out, it would seem silly not to. On the surface it would seem to be a win win situation for Everton

I think you are dead right. I live in Perth, Australia and there are numerous factors that make starting up an academy a very viable idea.

First off the popularity of Timmy Cahill is massive over here, for a sport that historically hasn'y been soo popular, he is one of, if not the most recognised face for a sporting figure, but we only see him in Australian Jersies. In my local shopping centre alone I can count 4 pictures of Tim Cahill in advertisments, and with the advertising legwork already done, making the connection to Everton would not be hard. Example, the only football (soccer) news we get is when Tim Cahill Scores, and if one of the top four win a title.

Secondly the high amount of english moving to Australia is a factor, because there simply is no current focus on Football (soccer) in the media, you are always plesantly suprised when a conversation about the premier league pops up, and funnily enough almost everyone I talk to have everton of their favourite team (the tim factor). Australia have a very active nation, and even an academy that could head hunt possible players from other leagues in the youth would be extremely effective because football has factors that other sports in Australia have (a massive international following, higher pay rates and a better standard of skill in the chosen sport).

Thirdly Australian football have the massive regulation of salary caps, so besides a few marquee players here and there, the general skill level never excells and it's quite rare to see an atrractive level of football, hence reducing the appeal of the game in australian circles. But then if you consider selling the brand Everton (which is already half established because of it's australian players) the market is there for a definate opportunity to be dominated. Just look at the effect of Beckham touring with the galaxy recently, he played 2 games, one in Sydney and one in New Zealand. Both of them got a prime time spot on TV (unheard of for the code besides world cup) and got huge ratings.

Finally the profile of Australian Football (soccer) has changed and will never be the same again. We will develop into a footballing nation because the changes that have recently been made to the fifa world cup qualifiers means that it will get some serious press because we will qualify, as compared to when we were in the oceania group and had almost no chance. Just read this to understand what I am saying
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australia_national_association_football_team
We have gone to playing comparable teams and lesser teams to qualify, from running the marathon and having to play teams like argentina on a must win game to qualify.

If you have any more questions on the topic, please reply because I love Everton and I think the commercial future of this idea or an idea like could be very profitable.

You too need to speak to Paul about your interest.

What the club will want is to ensure they have support in the local communities it operates in and also to ensure that it's fully utilised.

The more you communicate and get evidence to prove the need/desire to have it there....

The more likely you'll get these made available by EFC

ALSO GET TOGETHER A GROUP ON HERE (Grand Old Team) ... of people interested and then join together in your approach to the club

That email did not work for me, got a delivery failure notice. Any other emails that i could get through with the idea to Paul Harris?

Did anyone else in the Antipodes read that article about Frank Lowy's possible investment into Leeds? Should all us Ozmates be getting in his ear????

I've been thinking a bit more and there's just soo much indication it would be a good idea.

Everton is a brand name, it displays quality, loyalty and a proud history. It's something you could really take advantage out here. If you established something with the name Everton out here, IT WOULD ATTRACT QUALITY players. Simply put you would be seen as a connection to the finest league in the world and people would see this as a very logical way to be recognised by the right people in the right place. Right now our local leagues just don't have the attraction or the pulling power of something of a recognised brand, the quality is noticably low. If Everton were to come down and make some noise, let people know they were here, with Tim flying the flag you could mirror doing something like Virgin does, people love Richard Branson (generally) and they come into a market aiming to be the peoples champion (sound familiar, the peoples club?)

In Australia now, the current economic situation is better than anywhere else in the developed world, during this last financial crisis we did not enter a recession and enjoyed growth even during the worst of times, our industry is developing into something massive. There is money to be had out here, our cities have a high population density (almost all the capitals have over a million urban population each) so there would be support for anything that can really capture the publics attention.

just a bit more food for thought before work.

What's he worth AU$3.8 billion? I guess that's an improvment on Kenwright.
