I don't think this should be looked at from a football perspective.

From a society perspective it is worrying.
It looks as if you can do what you like, look contrite, give a sob story and away you go.

I don't honestly think there was an intent to cause damage or to injure... but it did cause damage and it could have injured and I think that has been ignored.

There must be a level of punishment that discourages crime rather than encourages it while at the same time not going completely overboard.
