From
A spokesperson for the Rainbow Toffees said: “Words like those heard being chanted at the game against Chelsea are not ‘banter’, they are homophobic.

“There is no place for homophobia in football or society as a whole, and The Rainbow Toffees believe there should be a zero-tolerance approach to this behaviour. Football should be an inclusive, safe and welcoming space for all.

“The Rainbow Toffees fully support the Club and their clear determination to stand up to homophobia and stamp it out of the game.”

To be honest, I think that's an overreaction, but that's easily said when you're a white, middle aged, straight bloke, and I dare say I'd think differently if I'd been discriminated against or experienced [some sort of]phobia.
White middle aged straight bloke. The cause of all the ills in the world
Of course any person of ethnic origin never discriminates ever. And they are very understanding of the LGBT community

Jesus Christ! It’s like being back in the playground.

A bunch of snowflakes complain about a chant. Anyone feeble minded enough to be offended by that just needs to be ignored.

Crying about “feed the scousers” just drops down to their pathetic level.
I dont understand why people are so hurt by this, and its not even sticks and stones, its a dumb football chant just like when we sing things like "Manchester is full of .... " there is some bad stuff going on in the real world and plenty of people have real issues to deal with, listening to a chant while at the match shouldnt even register

I'm not 'hurt' by it, but I don't know how you can differentiate a song like that from 'the real world'. In the real world, plenty of people in this city are poor. Very poor. There are people (just about) surviving on food banks and handouts. Singing songs mocking that very real situation is in extremely poor taste. It's not something i'd be running to tell a steward or the police about obviously, but I have no problem with calling it out publicly for what it is. Shaming people who are less well off than you is pondlife behaviour. Getting angry/upset when the fact you're living on the breadline is being rammed down your throat by a load of tory foxhunters is perfectly understandable in my eyes.

You can't call Chelsea out for doing anything for money but threatening to hang the Kopites one by one is perfectly fine.

I'm sound with the latter like but it's a funny old world

Totally agree, it's a nothing thing for most of us, but a lot of people get addicted to feeling offended all the time. It gives them a high; being self-righteous and morally superior feels "good"
Outrage is like a lot of other things that feel good but over time devour us from the inside ou, and it's even more insidious than most vices because they don't even consciously acknowledge that it's a pleasure.
I've had people annoyed and when you ask them why they are, they wouldn't be able to explain it with a powerpoint presentation, a pie chart, a HR rep and three of there also annoyed chums to assist them.
So much insane stuff going on in this country... nay world and people focus on nothing-nus. There is certainly much more important things out there to put your energy behind ;)

My point exactly. It’s dumb banter. Just like the Chelsea rent boys..

Just because some attention seeking snowflakes says they’re offended, doesn’t mean it IS offensive. If someone is offended by swear words & the chants mentioned, they probably shouldn’t be leaving the house.

And so the overblown PC culture extends its tentacles into the final corner of our lives. Football chants are suppose to be funny and rude. You can say “go teams” in your safe spaces all you want.
