Everton fans Attacked in Lille

The Lille police have been gearing themselves up for this for weeks. That fact that everything was peaceful they were going to use anything to make this happen. The flare going of was probably the trigger. The good thing is pre social media this would be put down to hooliganism now the real actions of the police can be seen and judged.

Nobody will care, nobody will judge the police, it will just be called English fans riot.

The daft thing is that everybody knows that flares are banned and a stupid thing to set off unless you're in danger and need of rescue... so why did anyone feel a need to take them?
My guess will be that the French police saw that as the necessary 'provocation' by English football fans in order to justify an overly heavy-handed response.

It's been the right week for a move like that.

Win on the pitch in both games, but I would not impose a ticket ban on the genuine Lille fans who will want to come to GP.
They won't be able to get tickets in any part of the ground other than the Upper/Lower Bullens, so it's not like they'll even try to go to the lengths that our guys and gals have gone to, to be there today.
And I would guess that our police will behave sensibly and more responsibly in looking after their fans and I would be appalled and actually very disappointed if ANY Evertonian were to try provoke anything other than a great atmosphere in the return game.

Same thing happened to Celtic fans in Amsterdam when they thought they were being attacked by ulras. Turned out they were plain clothes police who they beat the shiit out of.

People saying on twitter that there is a little team of div's from PSG using the European nights in France for a bit of a tear up. The same group that attacked our guy's last night did some spurs fans in the Lyon game. (organised euro thugary )
