The staff at the club can feck off on this one.

Everton belongs to us. They exist to serve Evertonians, not police our forums.

so if the colors are modified as they are in my avy, it's still not allowed ?
I suppose I'll take it down

Donwright tossers. Next they'll put a trademark on every combination of 5 or more consecutive letters in the name "Everton".

Just upload a painted picture of the crest, or even a badly done MS Paint job, and re-upload. It would be classed as a derivative work and you could argue that you've used the crest from your own personal Everton kit as a point of reference.

It's the act of exacting revenge on someone before you have been wronged by them. I'll let some of my first ever posts explain, as there was a thread dedicated to the very topic of usernames back in the heady, hopeful days of June 2014.

And from a thread about avatar origins:

I expect Everton's lawyers to be in touch.

This is the coolest thing I have even seen on GOT

Hang on, one of the reasons for changing the club's crest (twice) was to improve marketability and help the promotion of the Everton brand...

This decision on restricting its use just seems more and more stupid every time I think about it, and I already thought it was tremendously stupid to begin with.

Indeed, but the club determine who is authorised to display their crest.

For their own reasons, Everton Football Club Company Limited don't permit/exclude GrandOldTeam/unofficial websites from its use.

They don't need to provide a reason as to why.

Of course, it's all fine and legal on paper. But it's still silly.
