The problem with away system isnt always the chance to get em.
The problem is some fans (with credits) clearly buy the aways with no desire to go to some of em and sell em to fans, and still get their away credit.
That isnt fair
On the other hand, tickets go on sale 3 weeks before a game, and not everybody knows that far in advance if they can go or not...but they'll sell out if you wait and see, so you have to buy them before you know sometimes. And the club dont help. Look at Arsenal away 2 seasons ago. The game was on the Saturday when tickets went on sale, but it was an FA Cup weekend. The club pointed this out, and also pointed out when it would be played when it was rearranged, but didnt know yet if it was Tuesday or Wednesday, because of Arsenal playing Champions League or something. Oh, and no refunds. So basically, take your chances and buy one now, or gamble on it being on one of 3 dates AND you being able to go.
I work shifts, including weekends and night shifts, so have to book my days off a month in advance for games. Things like that above, or FA Cup replays etc. I quite often dont have the chance to take them off, but still buy my ticket and work on getting a swap later. Never been stung yet, but that would still be my approach in the future, and if I couldnt go, Id sell them to someone at face value who would be glad to have it.
Unfortunately, this is what its like supporting a club with away support like ours. Would you rather we do what Man United have started doing, and asking for ID at turnstiles, setting up ticket checks at service stations, and banning season tickets for anyone who has the cheek to sell on something when the club dont even allow them to get a refund?
