I actually thought he'd come in and give us a trophy rather than an ace PL season. Nearly did last season too.

Whilst on paper that is true, I think that Semi final was lost before we got there. I honestly never thought I would hear the comments of 'if we lose he goes' along with 'if we win then its a final'. It was like we couldn't lose. Even go as far as calling for the manager to be sacked the day before the game. To be fair though those people had a point at the time.

As a side note I miss our weekly debates on the games last season, although because he was sacked I guess I win :p

The United SF was a strange one where many didn't want it won. Some can protest that wasn't so, but it was.

The City SF was far more galling: 3-1 up on the two legged tie - all we needed to do was get to HT and let them sit and stew on it.

Never felt more optimistic about Everton than that Arsenal match. We completely and utterly obliterated them in every sense of the game. Coleman's performance that day was a thing of beauty, leaving Arsenal players literally saying "what the [expletive]".

Shame that was the high water mark of Martinez's tenure, but what a high water mark it was.
