That thing between your ears is quite possibly the most incredible bit of biology on the planet. Surely it's not asking too much to engage it before making one of the biggest decisions of your life?

That's not saying that the banks acted well, because they clearly didn't, and a large number of defaults is evidence of that, but it's not a good indictment of the people that borrowed too much either.

The 'boom' years were funded by people borrowing more than they could afford, and even now in the recession that caused, we still have interest rates at rock bottom levels, thus inflating away the savings of people prudent enough to live within their means, just so the folly can continue.

Shame on both of your houses.

I'll side on those who are ignorant over those who are deliberately deceptive any day of the week. Not everybody is as clever as you Bruce.

To blame people for getting in over their heads during a credit boom when it was the only way of securing a home after the housing stock was privatised is crass. The blame lies with right wing ideologues in the Tory Party, low levels of pay, and finance houses looking to expand their operations beyond retail operations.

I suppose pointing the finger at 'feckless' individuals is easier though.

Don't know the full story here, but...
If the banks money bought the house & this family isn't paying it back, then it's the banks house, end of!
Hate bankers, hate bailiffs, doesn't mean its ok to steal money, other peoples mortgages etc go up because people don't pay their debts.

agree mate its the usual case of the hard working law abiding, careful people having to pay the price for those who arnt careful, who dont play by the rules etc, same with everything in life, cars, houses, insurance, firearms etc. I do however, agree with roydo? though that these bankers are a bunch of ****s who shouldnt be propped up by the tax payers cash.
