I am gutted about Fergie retiring didnt see it coming

Anyway looks like David Moyes is favourite to replace him

Be interested to hear your views

From a United perspective I hope it is Moyes (Sorry) as I think he fits the profile perfectly.

I have quite a few match going Evertonian mates who are quite phylosophical about it ( All wish David Moyes all the best if he goes to United etc) but in the same time are a bit uncertain about how it will all pan out (Bit like United fans really)

Also if Moyes goes to United who do you reckon the next Manager will / should be

Finally would this mean that Rooney is on his way out of United ???

Cheers

Him and Rooney have made up by all accounts Nev. Still not certain Wayne would like playing under him as he knows what type of manager he is.

For me I'm quite pleased. He's a bit of a dour character and his style of play mirrors him a lot of the time. I can see this being a disaster for your club. He hasn't got the tools for the biggest stage IMO.

He's a good fella and he was right for us but I doubt you'll be saying the same within a couple of years.

If he is to succeed at united I think it important that he keeps the coaching staff you already have, if he brings in his own I think he will struggle.

With the fella moving upstairs he'll clearly be guiding whoever it is through the ropes pretty well.

From a pure footballing perspective though David Moyes and Manchester Utd are polar opposites, be interesting to see how this all pans out.

nev, let's just say you wont be seeing United players picking up Big Ears again anytime soon!

In terms of a footballing Philosophy/Mindset I see nothing even remotely similar. Both very driven perhaps?

Other than that I can't see how this makes any sense for Man Utd.

I think given time he'll thrive. It's the first 2 or 3 years that will be difficult.

SAF obviously had a big say in this. Clearly the man knows his stuff and so I trust Moyes to do a good job.

He wont get 3 years though mate.

I can see them finishing third if Jose goes back to Stamford Bridge.

City will be nowhere near as poor as they've been this season & you could even say that Spurs will go well if they keep Bale and have a bit of continuity.

The Mancs will be utterly unforgiving of any un-Ferguson like behavior.

I think he will. The way United operate they want a manager who will take on the running of the club, not just the team. I don't think Jose was ever that person. I think Ferguson will act as almost his mentor for the first year or two, as obviously the transition will be huge.

I'm fairly confident he'll do a good job.

I think it's a massive, massive challenge even without thinking about the football side of things.

The media eat out of Fergusons hand. Moyes won't command the same respect. Ferguson can't play the press for him.

The fans will not do with having their expectations managed either. He's got to talk big and back it up. He's not fond of that.

Then there's the players. It always looks like some players aren't quite the same when an iconic manager, who demands great loyalty, goes.

No what, I wish him well until a time ever comes where we compete then obviously I don't.

I'll be an interested observer whenever they play in the CL.

Spot on mate

That's why I think they've gone for Moyes and not someone like Mourinho. Man U and Ferguson want the club ran in a particular way and I feel that Moyes would be more willing to adopt that mould, and work "under Ferguson's wing". I think someone like Mourinho would want to put their own stamp on the club. They would have thought long and hard about this decision. They could have quite easily have appointed any manager in the world but they've chosen Moyes, and for a reason.

In many ways Moyes made Everton his own. For right or for wrong. That's what Ferguson has done too, yet obviously he commands that more than Moyes ever has done.

Moyes doesn't command the same respect, yet, but he's an incredibly dignified man and I think in a short space of time he'll get that respect, results providing, of course.

Personally, I hope he goes on to be as successful as possible.
