He would alway shake the hand of those who would attend anything related to him.
One of my closest friends was a good friend of Eusebio. A couple of years ago I attended to a dinner with businessman from Mozambique and that friend of mine asked him to attend that dinner, since it was related to his native land. He attended to that dinner and was the last one to arrive. He shook everybody's hand before he sat to have his meal.
On other occasion I was invited by my friend to attend to a small group dinner which Eusebio would attend. At first I declined since I never had a special admiration for him - being a Sporting fan I could never stand some of his umpolite remarks towards my boyhood club - but I always recognized him as true living legend of the portuguese football and aknowledge the fact that his name had become bigger than his club and his country. But then, after learning that some great guys (also very good friends to Eusebio) I knew would be there I ended up going. And there we were, six fellows on a table reserved under Eusebio's name, on one of his favourite places, waiting for the man who didn't show up. He arrived at the restaurant by the time we had finished our meals and took him more than an hour to spot us in the restaurant because he had to stop in every table of that restaurant since he wouldn't refuse a word to anyone who would requested it. Well, he never get to our table and when we got up to go home we crossed his way. He got up from his seat thanked everyone of us for attending his dinner - I remind you that he didn't have dinner with us - and shook everybody's hand.
