This may have been posted already, but do the winners get an automatic Champions League qualifying place?
If so, does this mean Liverpool could finish fourth and Fulham could win it and therefor Fulham would get the CL spot Liverpool would have had?
Also, if this is the case, what would it mean to the proposed playoff system being talked up for fourth to seventh?
(Which reminds me, they got a rule change because as holders they cried about being automatically allowed to defend their title, say a side like Arsenal won it this year and finished fifth, and Fulham won the Europa how would CL entry be decided or would third have to give up their position?)
To keep this involving Everton, how beautiful would it be to win the Europa and see 'them' booted out of CL qualifiers for us.

Yes . Hence the reason that The Babysitter all of a sudden deems it an extremely attractive trophy to win , and not at all the , Mickey Mouse K.O. that they have constantly sniggered at during our time in it - despite partying like it was 1999 , when , spawnily , beating a Spanish 2nd Division side to win it - .
Kopites , eh ???

Its not the case if you win the Europa League, you qualify automatically for next season's Europa League.

Don't think that's right , actually , Tak .
Rule changed this season , I believe - it's a fukn scam , btw . Looking after the G14 , same as the , drop-down , facility into Europa League - .

i think you may be wrong this time lcab......

If the Europa League title holders also qualify for the Champions League or the Europa League through domestic performance, their vacated place in the Europa League is not taken by any team.

this year the winners of last years comp (shaktar) were guaranteed a europa group place but because they qualified for the c.l. they had to figure out what to do.
the winners of this years if not qualifying for c.l. will be the top seeds in next years europa.

if the winners are from this country, and they finish also in a qualifying position for the europa league, then they will be the top seeds next season because of winning it but an extra place will not be made available in the prem. i.e. 8th won't get in europa, so in effect a place will be lost.

Each country has a mawimum quota of teams for entry into European competiton, each federation/association is allowed to designate the criteria. Since the fcuk up in 2005 UEFA changed the rules to guarantee champions of any European trophy the right to defend their title in the following year's competiton (should have been that way all along in my opinion), whatever their final league standing

I've always been under the impression that if you win the Europa, you are given a place in the Champions League no matter what?

what gave you that impression ? it just happens that when a team wins the uefa they tend to be having a decent season and qual. for the c.l. in their own league.

it was often the case with the 'cup winners cup' winners also becoming champions at home, and the milk cup runners up traditionally won the fa cup for a while as well.

I've never really paid attention to any other leagues up until recently to be fair mate, and over time just thought that the Winners were put into Champions League as a prize, as they usually were in the Champions league the season after.
