Being entered in every competition possible is of benefit to the club. Can't understand some people's snobbery.

Don't be silly, its of zero benefit and you know it, we've been there, as have Bolton, Burnley, Newcastle....etc it means nothing as far as progress goes, just derails your season

Liverpool won the champions league and have never been champions.

If you look back at some of my posts in the RS thread I've always slated it being called the 'Champions league' because it's a joke it being called that, it was way better when it was the old European cup, but it's all about the money now.

We weren't good enough to qualify for the Europa league on merit, so getting through by the back door would be a farce.

Why not? I went to plenty of Zenith Data System Cup games. Just in case you forgot that was one of the tournaments used as a replacement tournament for English clubs due to being banned from Europe due to our loveable neighbours.

But I'm sure you knew that already.

Screen Sport Super Cup was paraded around Goodison by our neighbours with some sort of smug satisfaction, a competition where Howard’s team talk allegedly went along the lines of.....I no idea why we are doing this....out you go.

So, not only were we banned by our own FA from European competition for something that had nothing to do with us, the first stupid competition that was thrown together for those teams banned ( an idea that was crackers in its own right), was won by the team that brought that toxic and unwelcome mix of politics interfering with sport leading to Thatcher telling the FA to withdraw English teams from European competition. It was that bad, I think the actual ‘Final’ took place the season after! They celebrated as well at Goodison.... having comfortably won the two legs of a Final that Should never have happened. Not only have we had to put up with the weird ones and the embarrassment of their Steau banner, for those that were there, we had on the night, the weird ones thinking it was somehow alright to think celebrating the Screen Sport Super Cup was in any way a victory to be proud of.

I know He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother but one thing is for sure, they test your patience. Well played Kopites.....beat us again in another competition. Hope it made you feel good. I know how I thought.

The Europa league is a joke, the fact that Arsenal and Chelsea fans followed their teams all over Europe, to end up playing a game in a country most people couldn't point out on a map was ridiculous. Even the champions league doesn't have the allure it once did, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Spurs were fighting not to qualify for it towards the end of the season. The fact that 2 teams who should of never even qualified from the group got the final, just tells you how poor the competition is.

This - swerve it bigtime.
I haven't checked but most of the recent winners have come from the 'should really be in the CL but missed out for some reason' end of the spectrum. Teams with the quality and quantity of squad depth.
