Europa Cup = Domestic Burn Out?

I keep on thinking back to this. Considering were utter [Poor language removed] in Europe, D-lid may have a point.

Me too. I feel like it's a bit of a numbers game as you can't predict injuries & what have you yet you can guarantee that (by playing in Europe) you are increasing the odds that depth, burnout, etc., can potentiall take its toll.

Also makes me think of a team like Villa who seem to consistently fade towards the end of the year, while seeming to rely on less rotation (fairly anecdotal statement there, don't have the facts to back up their lack of rotation but hey) throughout the year. Coincidence? Not sure, but seems like maybe not.

On the other hand, seems like there's some value to the growing pains & overall process of finding some SUCCESS in Europe (not to be confused w/ simply being there). Not only for recruiting & exposure, but for the mental toughness & confidence to push you through the valleys throughout the campaign. Seems as though beating some of Europe's larger sides could give the club that extra bit of edge & swagger to maybe grind out some results even on an off day (see: last 2 games).

Then again, all this could be complete nonsense & utter speculation, in reality a direct result of spending an hour too long in the Florida sun as opposed to any insightful observations I'd like to believe.

Its like catch 22 really.

We don't want to play in Europe one year because its a distraction and harms our chances in the league.

Yet we want to do well in the league to get into Europe.

We want to get into the champions league.

Yet to do so we think about missing out on the europa league when we need the experience of playing in europe so we can do better in the champions league.

We want to qualify for Europe. Not the shitty Europa league, but the Champions league.

Sorry, but thats just the way it is.
