England have enough quality to get the job done but a lot of people underestimate Denmark, Really solid team with decent players and they work really hard.
In fairness not many people in here are underestimating them. Maybe in our media but they always go overboard.

Saying you think England will win isn't a reflection on Denmark. They have the slightly better players, have home advantage, and had a much easier quarter final challenge in many ways.

But I'm nervous as hell. It could all go completely wrong very easily against a very good team.

Personally I think the longer we stay in the game the more the odds go in our favour as we have a wealth of talent on our.bench.

Keane and and Schmeichel had numerous busts ups at Old Trafford which was well known , both great players though even though i am biased , tonight i think will be a very close games the Danes are no mugs and i think the game is 50-50

Being American, you seem to have a selective memory.

I think you missed the point of the joke, which is that we have to turn out the police either way.

In Philadelphia, they literally grease the telephone poles prior to an event like a Super Bowl that the Eagles play in, so that people cannot climb them.

IIRC the police in Vancouver (not ours, but close enough) had to quell a riot after the Canucks lost a game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals. I can think of plenty of other examples where the police have had to quell a riot after the local team won.

I think that you're also missing the broader point, which is that to those of us on this side of the pond this entire thread is going to be a massive joke thread today.

Bore off topic bell whiff.

So you're conceding the point by ad hominem, then.
Don't you mean the other way around? I've been watching American TV all my life, far more than most Americans have been watching British TV I'd wager and I'd like to think I have a better understanding of American culture/language than most Americans have of our British culture simply because I don't think most Americans have been exposed to it (changing a bit now due to the internet but still). Not having a go, it's just England can't compete with the US media and Hollywood, etc.
I find that you all have a great deal more trouble understanding me than I have understanding you.

I also am armed with a lot more exposure to your culture from an early age, having read Adams right around the time I got out of the single digits in age. I also am toting a lot more education than your average American, so you may be on point that I'm generalizing incorrectly from an N of one.

"On" and "Off" seem to be adverbs in your examples there, rather than prepositions.

Those words are inarguably considered to be prepositions. You can make a case that they are being used as adverbs in that particular slang usage.

I would imagine that two Oxbridge professors could stake out the opposing positions and go round and round indefinitely without reaching a result.

Taylor is saying some really smart things on our coverage.

If you all get an early goal, this should be cake. If not, the relaxed fans will probably become anxious, and it will get real uncomfortable in Wembley.

Seems a decent man to be fair. Good international coach I reckon. Would never make a club manager though.
I assume at some point he'll be a club manager and I'm honestly interested in seeing that. The other choice is he just cruises around managing places that double as vacation spots like Malta.
