Euro 2024 draw

Ah, do you live out there? Or have I read that wrong?

Of all the trips I’ve been on with England, Munich for the Nations League was the least enjoyable, from young lads just none stop “German Bombers” to over zealous police closing bars at 10pm every night.

So not planning on sticking around any of the cities England play in and will soak up in neighbouring cities

But my experiences by large have been more than fine, the only time it gets a bit moody is when they treat you poorly for no reason. Can’t wait, but fully expecting the idiots to be out in force purely for the amount of “idiots” I know who are desperate to go over.

One thing I have noticed is that more and more and more blues are going over, saw a load in Macedonia.
Yeah I live in Frankfurt. Wasn’t here in 2006 but have heard stories from people who were. The Frankfurters are just as bad as the English to be fair.

It got a bit tasty here when West Ham were here for the europa league game. Both sides were at it.

I am tempted to follow England too but the threat of trouble puts me off a bit. I think in the past you said the easier the destination to get to, the more idiots turn up, is that right? So I guess in places like Macedonia you see less trouble?

I’ve applied for England vs Serbia but not expecting to get anything. Also applied for Italy vs Albania in Dortmund the night before on the off chance I get the England game as it’s right next to Gelsenkirchen.

Already got tickets for Netherlands vs Austria in Berlin on the 25th but that’s right at the end of the group stage. Would like a game or two earlier on in the tournament.

Berlin will be ace mate. Should be a great atmosphere all over the country.

Lovely.

Staying in Frankfurt on 14-15th need a good bar to watch Scotland Germany, if you know any

You can do it and avoid the idiots to be perfectly honest. When I was in Wrocław a couple of months ago, we just kept ourselves to ourselves. Sometimes you end up in the thick and it’s okay, but these are lads on their best behaviour because they don’t want bans from the FA, the ones who come over without tickets or via UEFA, have absolutely no ties are usually the trouble causers.

Macedonia was fine really, spend the first two nights drinking with the police and locals, seriously with the police, then the match day came and the police we were having a laugh with just turned.

Decided to close bars at 11, when they had a 3 curfew, and people weren’t too happy. So a bit of commotion but nothing too bad. I’m hoping with 10,000 tickets for the group, the sensible fans will dilute any idiots anyway.

Probably the best bars to watch football here are 2 Irish pubs, O’Reilly’s and Waxys. They will be packed out for Germany games. But I think during the Euros most bars will have screens showing games, also outdoor screens if the weather is good. In 2006 there was a massive fan park along the the banks of the river, and they installed huge screens on artificial islands in the river, so you could watch from the banks. I hope they’ll do something like that again. But generally speaking it will be very easy to watch games and if the weather’s good it will be a nice atmosphere in the city

Drop us a message closer to the time, I’ll see if any of our lot aren’t going to any of the games and see if I can get you a ticket for any of the games.

Think that O’Reilly’s is in the Hauptbahnhof isn’t it? Staying next to there as got it for £40 a night (god knows the quality) so will head in there.

Initially out for 6 days, so I’m hoping to catch a game a day, will probably aim for

Switzerland - Hungary
England - Setbia
France - Austria
Scotland - Switzerland
Turkey - Play off C winner
Denmark - England

Then I’ll be back for the QF onwards.
Love Germany, feel the locals always appreciate my efforts to speak German, particularly when I go watch Koln

Sounds like an ace trip mate, I hope I do manage to get some tickets myself. Cheers for the offer, I’ll definitely message you nearer the time 👍

Yes O’Reilly’s is the one at the Hauptbahnhof. For European club games it’s usually one where away fans gather. Could imagine during the Euros there might be fans of various countries in there depending on which teams are playing there at any given time.

There are quite a few hotels around there all of varying quality. Feel free to DM me if you need extra info. Has anyone told you about the area around the Hauptbahnhof yet? It’s an interesting place lol

Yeah I’ll head there and definitely drop us a message regardless, only 3 of us are going to Frankfurt initially, ones a blue too.

Oh god, what am I letting myself in for? How bad is it? If it’s as shady as Munich Hbf then I’m sure I’ll love it

Haha it’s probably shadier than Munich lol But it’s not anything to worry about. Shouldn’t be dangerous or anything like that. And on the O’Reillys side it’s not too bad. If you go the other side of Kaiserstrasse it’s the red light district and there’s also a lot of open drug consumption going on. Like I said, not dangerous but people who don’t know what to expect get a bit of a shock when they step off the train lol

O am very excited to tell the missus I’m staying in the RLD, what could possibly go wrong

Hotel is 250m from the Irish bar, it’ll be fine! Watching a load of people getting Hugh could be more amusing than the football anyway

Haha it’s a pretty cool neighbourhood though generally. A lot of nice bars (not RLD stuff) and restaurants and the river is very close

Yeah apparently when England were here in 2006 it was absolute carnage - both from the English and also the local hooligans. Re the Serbia game yeah I didn't apply for tickets for that for the same reason. Might try for the Slovenia game though, and the most likely last 16 game should we win the group.

Greece v Turkey should be ace.
I was there in 2006, very little trouble with England fans in Frankfurt tbf. Did see a little bit by Oriellys opp the station, but otherwise good atmosphere.

I’m trying to galvanise my mates , we agreed we’d go to Hamburg and apply for all the group games there and then see about day trips to Berlin or the Ruhr valley games. Now the fixtures have been arranged I don’t think day trips will be possible with 18.00 and 21.00 k.o times, I’ve suggested staying in Berlin instead and applying for 5 or 6 games there and Hamburg but it’s like herding cats.

Lead and they’ll follow.

That’s my advice!

I was hoping to catch as many 3pm KO’s as possible, because loved the early games in the past, and I was surprised by just how few there are this tournament.

Think it’s only 5 games out the 51, which are 3pm KOs. Think it’s only one day where you can feasibly do more than one game in a day.

The whole trip has shrunk in the last hour ! not so gung-ho now.

I'm heading out with my 10 year old son, my sister and two nephews (11 and 10) for a week. Not been lucky enough to get any tickets in the initial ballot and not holding out much hope for the next lottery but it'll be a great experience for the boys regardless. Have applied for Spain Vs Italy, Turkey Vs Playoff C winners and Scotland Vs Switzerland based on how our accommodation has worked out.

Seems to be plenty planned in terms of fan zones etc and Germany is a great country to visit.

I'm 40 this year so my sister is treating me to flights for my birthday. My brother-in-law passed away suddenly at the age of 45 last year leaving my sister and three young children so we've promised to grasp more opportunities like this and make memories for the kids because you never know what tomorrow will bring. The boys are all football daft.
