EURO 2021

So anyway, final conclusions:

  • A good tournament because of the crowds being back and the best team winning in the end.

  • I'd make Spain a bigger favourite for the Qatar World Cup than Italy based on the KO phase of the Euros.

  • Scotland were as bad as I thought they'd be and a renaissance of their football is miles off. Embarrassing lack of talent.

  • Wales were rubbish and relied on a badly over the hill Bale.

  • Belgium proved that their golden generation weren't golden and they peaked in Russia.

  • Denmark were annoying.

  • Holland underlined that their league is a backwater still.

  • France thought they could stroll it and, pleasingly, their arrogance was rewarded with their arses handed to them.

  • Germany need Low out and Flick in ASAP.

  • Hungary are a disgrace to world football and should be banned for their connecton to a fascist organisation.

  • England were difficult to play against but lacking in ambition and real quality in midfield, and rode their home advantage to the max.

Think Flick was already announced before the tournament, the England game turned out to be Low’s last game

Looking ahead to that World Cup, I see the South American and African teams, possibly the US as well, being the favourites as they have more of an adjustment to the climate than most of the European sides. I can also envisage Qatar getting some very favourable decisions in their favour and having a long run ala South Korea in 02

The same Wales that pushed Switzerland who pushed your WC favourites to the brink and lost only 1-0 away to Italy in Rome? - albeit should have lost by more on balance.

Now Wales are never going to be challenging at the top end but you are looking at it from a standpoint of they lost 4-0 to Denmark, not taking into account two of those goals scored after 89 minutes and only in one game were we not the 'away' side and even that was a 5 and a half hour flight away from the UK.

If that was a 2-1 game against Denmark people would have gone we had a decent tournament. We were much the better side for the first 25 minutes and then just seemed to tire. Just because the scoreline changed as Wales pushed forward it shouldn't be considered rubbish. We were there or thereabouts where we should be.

I think Southern European sides won’t have too much trouble with that climate either

Come on, Denmark swamped Wales.

That was no contest at any point.
