Declan Rice only turned 21 in Jan...very highly rated by the media (yes i know!), West Ham fans seem to love him and hes got in the England side with 7 caps already.

Now im not sure if hes going to be any good...but in a similar way to Henderson couldnt he simply be a stable consistent 7/10 player (like his whoscored rating) with alot of upside?

Havent seen him a great deal...but not sure why he gets so much stick?
Watch the qualifier against Czech Republic to see what a midfield of Rice and Henderson looks like

Im not saying about that combo...just Rice.

Just turned 21, 7 caps...7/10 for the season on whoscored...

Seems like hes praised by West Ham fans and the media like him.

At 20-21 being a solid 7/10 player is pretty decent isnt it?

Rice can't use the ball. It's always going to limit what he can do. If he were good enough to be the lone defensive player in the side he might be able to get away with it but he isn't yet.

He gets stick because he was anointed despite never actually being that good. He's got the potential to be Henderson (good but not great) but he could also be Jack Rodwell if he makes the wrong choices.

He’s really not, he’s been one of Liverpool’s best players this season, their dip in form also coincided with him getting injured.
To be fair Klopp seems to have found a role for him that negates his weaknesses, but for England he's been nothing but useless. He's plays a bit further forward for Liverpool right? Like a sort of No.8?

The way England play you need a midfielder who can take the ball comfortably off the back 4 and then distribute well preferably not just playing a simple pass back the way it came because you're too scared and/or not good enough to turn under pressure and play a more risky ball forward. Neither Henderson or Rice are good enough for that.

Seems to be rated higher then Henderson was at that age?

Understood...and i know this is the England thread, but in general he seems to be considered a consistent 7/10 player who has just turned 21.

That would already make him our best centre midfielder :)
