Sparta Rotterdam vs Feyenoord. Sparta are the oldest team in Holland but are over shadowed by the media darlings at Feyenoord. They even stole their club colours.

I've been to both stadiums, I prefer Sparta's with its quaint little pavilion. Plus, you get to say 'THIS IS SPARTA'.

Good question. I know that people like different teams from other countries and more power to them. But what have Espanyol got to do with Everton? I'd think that nothing less than a mid tier La Liga Spanish side (or equivalent for whatever non-English league) is a perfectly acceptable team to have a pre-season friendly against which unfortunately for them, they are not.
It's just a really really weird suggestion to arrange annual games with some club we have no connection with.

thats what they post on RAWK about everton!
just booked man-bilbao on easyjet for october £34 return, plan on doing athletico and real socidad, maybe real santander as well!

Racing just got relegated to the 3rd tier (again).... second tier standard is rubbish! Should consider (if you haven’t already), taking in Eibar (between San Sebastián and Bilbao).. weird ground 7,000, there’s a road which elevated about the ground or Alaves, whilst I’ve never been to Vitoria where Alaves are based it’s meant to be delightful!

It’s worth going to Guernica for half a day and visit the peace museum, doesn’t take long on the train from Bilbao.

Not the way I hear it.

I always heard Espanyol were the club of Spaniards from other regions whose people had migrated to Catalonia from Madrid, Andaluscia, Extramadura etc.

People who consider themselvex Spanish first and Catalan second.

Even the name suggests that.

@bicycleheader could maybe confirm or deny this.

Whatever though, I am saddened to see them go down,

A great city like Barcelona should always have two top flight clubs.

There’s Independentist Catalan fans of both clubs, but I think even a separatist Espanyol fan wouldn’t try to claim their club is more “Catalan” than Barça. IMO

unless it’s a reference to them currently having almost exclusively local fans at their games when Camp Nou is filled with tourists.

However given the crap attendances at Espanyol and the very large crowds at most Barça games I would say it’s arguable that there might even be more local supporters in amongst the tourists at Camp Nou in most game days than bother showing up at Cornella.

nice little stadium though. Like a Championship ground. I work only a few mins walk away from it. Went once to watch a dreadful goalless draw with Atleti a few seasons back.

still not done Basque Country yet despite being here for 9yrs. Actually sounds terrible that when I write it down. Half thinking about doing couple nights in San Sebastián end of August now.....but I’d prefer do a good week and see more. Lovely people in my experience.

really really regret not making it to San Mames before they moved to the new stadium in Bilbao, but I hear the new stadium is fantastic and the match day experience still great. @nikom court

Since the lockdown started I’ve been making a mental list of Spanish cities I’d like to go back to and go to the match, Bilbao,Valencia, Getafe and Betis so far !.

Relegated to La Segunda after defeat by Barca in their derby.
Bit like us in that they have glamorous media darling neighbours. They say Neu Camp is filled with tourists and plastic fans, they are the true Catalan club.
Great, they got relegated. The reason our ground is full of 'real' fans is that nobody is that interested outside. So we seek solace being the peoples club after another waste of a season. Woohoo!
