Wanted to give you guys in England a snapshot of what it's like being a football fan here in the States and why so many here are United, Arsenal, or RS supporters. I took a screenshot on my phone of the ESPN FC site this morning. I couldn't capture it all but 7 of first 9 stories is about Wenger or Mourinho. 10 of first 10 stories about United or Arsenal

it's not that different here to be honest!

not as bad as on your side of 'teh pond' but if you only read BBC you'd forget the league has 20 teams!

ps: first

ESPN covers those big clubs because the fans were "here" long before the four-letter network even bothered to start vaguely attempting to covering the sport in minimally exceptional fashion.

And going to ESPN's for anything beyond box scores is horrible. More concerned with self-promotion and nonsense than the good old days when they showed highlights. Despise them for burying Hockey.

And as great as NBCSN has been about allowing people with cable accounts to stream any matches not showing, even they were absolute garbage when the new season rolled around doing promo artwork for six clubs (you can guess which... to make it easier they even left out the defending champs)... was two weeks before the Prem club equivalents of "Flyover Country" had similar artwork done up.

The only thing nice about ESPN FC mate is that they'll convert time for the matches for you along the top ticker. That's it and that's all. Pretty crap otherwise.

The only one I understand is New Yorkers supporting Chelsea because there is a Chelsea in New York. The rest of them can get in line. Good for you for being an Evertonian!
I have a friend from NJ who is an Evertonian because of Landon Donovan. He also loved Tim Cahill, corner flag abusing, salmon leaping legend that he was.
Interestingly, he hated Tim Howard, despite him being a fellow Jersey boy.

This, and there's a link to ESPN. Otherwise, useless. An embarrassment.

I have less and less time for/patience with "the worldwide leader" these days. Lots of stuff that isn't really sports on there. It's getting to be like when you tell people that they used to play music on MTV back when dinosaurs roamed the earth. Same thing with ESPN and actual sports now.

I hate ESPN, but I don't know of a better site. It's still better than the BBC website.

I can't stand the fact that they only do stories on the big 6. I remember last year they didn't include Leicester in their top stories while they were top for much of the season. Such a disgrace.

Their featured matches at the top is also disgusting.

That is all.

Great example today was in hte bar I watched second half in. "I don't understand how people can be okay with a draw at the end of the day" Chimed in "because it is over 38 matches, points matter more than wins/losses." Guy says "it's boring".

Yeah... this is why I still am aggravated I was born in this country.

I watch actual games on ESPN and nothing else. It's a shame because in the pre-Internet highlight days I'd watch Sportscenter every morning but it's awful now

Shock Horror I - All the usual suspects get overkill TV publicity.
Shock Horror II - The Prem League only has 6 teams in it and they play other teams from...some random list of clubs drawn at the start of the season based on last seasons results.

He sounds like my kind of guy!
