I found it interesting that the so called most senior and best English referee Michael Oliver isn’t refereeing a game this weekend. However he has been put on VAR at our game. Seems like they really don’t want any VAR controversy in this game.

Just thought I’d create a thread for this 1 thought.

Not too bad I guess. Glad it's not Oliver or Taylor as those kind of refs when they come to goodison seem to think that because of their stature they try to make a point of not giving us anything. I feel like they think it's good refereeing to not play to the crowd even if fouls are made.

The 'optics' of us going down because of some dodgy call will be sweetened in the media and the sky establishment if the person who made the call is the 'most senior' referee. By implication his decision MUST be the most correct one possible.
