These pirates need to be booted. An advanced society with a cartel putting the population in a position in which civil society and the media are being forced to tell people to put extra clothing on indoors, use tea light candles, and avoid using a kettle is embarrassing. The sad thing is that we have allowed this to happen.

Got a question for any electricians or appliance nerds….

A super eco wash setting takes 2 hours for a full wash but a quick was takes half the time. Does the super eco wash setting still use less leccy?

Mine says it wants my gas dd to be £320 a month and my electric to £167.

Was paying around £100 a month for both. I've voluntarily put this to £250 for both now and will see how it goes in the wash at the end but I'm struggling to see how it's gone from £1200 to near £6000 a year.
 
Just had my new prices appear. I was sent an email a few weeks a go with my new rates. As of today, new rates are nothing near.. with Octopus.

Electric

Was 29p, going to 38p, went to 54p..

Gas

Was 7.4p, going to 10.2p, went to 14.5p.


Gas I can live with just, as we use very little.

Electric though. Woooooo.. fuming. I'm getting on the online chat shortly to give them hell.

Are these extra price rises just to rinse us of the government grant we are getting? With the grant and my 'supposed' rises I'd estimated my bill would come down slightly.! September for me was £131 combined.

Got our new bill yesterday, ours has gone from £180 a month, to £400.

My missus is in full meltdown mode.

Took me over an hour to get through and they`re saying that there`s a possible fault with the meter, as the readings are showing unexplained " spikes " in gas use.

So I`ve had to take a photo of the meter ( for some reason ) and they`re going to " investigate it.

They`ve still taken the £400 out of the account in the meantime.
 
We have an EV tariff, due to having an electric car. Kw price between 0200 and 0600 is 11p, a quarter of the price that it is during the day.

Due to the rise in costs, we started setting a timer on the dishwasher and washing machine for the off peak period, it has made a big difference in the amount of energy we use.
 
I have recently moved house (2 months ago) I was with British Gas previously but moved into a new build which is supplied by Scottish Power where I am on standard rate .
My problem is I cant get through to Scottish Power to find what the actual rate is does anyone know ?
One thing I wont be doing is paying by direct debit they will get paid when i am ready to pay them and am happy with the figures.
