Endemic fan negativity doesn't help the club

A culture amongst too many fans of consistently unrealistic expectations and negativity has imposed a huge burden on the club and team over the last few years

Rather than creating a positive and confident culture, this contributes to fear and anxiety in the team

Balanced, well considered and constructive analysis, critique and support is noticeable by its absence

To change this, fans would need to actively work on changing their mindsets - some fans seem to be hard wired this way though and unlikely to change - so presumably if the worst happened and we went down, the negativity would still be present

All I can ask is that people somehow try to be as positive and supportive as possible to the end of the season - help build up the team and staff's confidence rather than knocking it down

The fans can make a difference here!

Another post on telling fans how to feel when spending hard earned money.

Whether you like it or not, the majority of match going fans bleed blue, it’s their life, and when you are given repeated “false dawns”, and beaten down by the ineptitude of the club, what do you expect?

Every game is an emotional rollercoaster, and despite what you may be told, Liverpool is still a working class city and fans spend their hard earned money going up and down the country. Why would they not be negative?

The growing majority of us haven’t seen a trophy, very few will have seen a relegation. It’s peoples lives.

If we want to protest we should but follow it up, there’s a lot wrong at Everton, and if the fans are what is needed to cut out the cancer in the club, fine. But you cannot put the anxiety of the players in the fans.

Paid millions of pounds, given a wide range of support in the form of Psychologists etc, they know winning games will keep the fans happy. Yet this season alone, fans have spent thousands going away and for what?

Thank you for your brave words. It seems some have poisoned the club from the outside in with their out of control Geordie entitlement and toxicity. These exact same “fans” now want to complain loudest and position themselves as the victims in all of this.

We’ve already let them ruin this website. We cannot allow them to ruin Everton.

The players sticking their boots on the correct feet might help...just saying

More fool those who spend thousands a year going to watch this shower. Literally, what is the point?

It’s peoples lives though. They know nothing more than watching Everton, it’s their support mechanism, we’ll it’s meant to be.

But you’re right, what’s the point? I do the majority of the aways, and the value for money this season has been abysmal.

if the fans are to blame for putting a burden on the club and players over the last few years with an injection of £500 million, then what sort of pressure will they be on in the Championship?

How about the players who are so badly letting the fans down, work on their mindsets? They are mentally weak, and fold like a deck of cards.

Fans, who pay to support the club through any means necessary have every right to display how they feel about the club.
