End of season fixture backlog - 3 away games to be rearranged

Was wondering why we couldn't play The Derby on the tuesday (19th). But looking at it if RS get through to quarter finals of Europa (which is likely) the 2nd leg is on 14/4. So their game v Bournemouth would get moved to Sunday 17th. So they wouldn't arrange a league game 48 hours later. With all semi finalists playing on Wed 20th I suppose its fair. Apart from the fact we're playing a Derby match and everything which goes with that!!

Nah mate. It is a massively draining game.

If I were a West Ham or United fan now I'd be punching the air.

they've also got to play as well though mate on the Wednesday.

It's not gonna help but I'd imagine our semi-final will be on the sunday.

Teams vs the RS:

4-3-3

Joel,
Coleman
Jags,
Stones,
Oviedo,
Besic/Gibson,
McCarthy,
Cleverly,
Mirallas,
Deulofeu,
Niasse.

Bench: Howard, Galloway, Gibson/Besic, Osman, Pienaar, Kone, Dowell.

Rest: Mori, Baines, Barry, Lennon, Barkley, Lukaku.

That teams decent enough to get something at Anfield whilst resting key players.

Bare in mind that if Liverpool go through in the Europa, they'll have near enough 2 games a week from the start of April until the end of the season, so might have a few injuries/need to rest players themselves.

One assumes the c,up must gave been consulted and consented.

If they did consent, shame on them.
I wou;d hope they fought the team's case fiercely...in reality they are pathetic and probably offered no resistance.

Basically we have two options:

1/ dont contest the derby and lose points
2/ contest the derby and decrease your chance of a SF win by about 50%.

Great.

I'm guessing @davek that you said this slightly tongue-in-cheek however, the genuinely worrying scenario is some dip5h1t yard-dog like Milner, Charlie Can, Moreno or Horrendouson will go flying into a tackle and we might lose an influential player from the semi (and final).

This may sound like an early over-reaction to this scheduling, but I'm already fearful of the potential of such a scenario happening - the tinder-box atmosphere of a 'derby' could very well and all too easily be ignited, both on and off the pitch.

Maybe, we should field a 'second string' team in the derby - after all, our 'second string' actually ain't that bad.
It wasn't tongue in cheek at all mate...it's a realistic prediction. They will be hurtling into challenges knowing our players dont want to miss out on Wembley.

How can we be expected to face them and a cup SF in three days and give both a good shot?

It's an utter scandal.

West Ham v Watford and Man U v C.Palace are rearranged for the same night as the Derby so all 4 semi finalists will be playing strangely enough,no matter who win the Hammers/ Utd replay.
That's not true mate.
