End of season fixture backlog - 3 away games to be rearranged

That's because we were actually playing the same team in the SF...there was no danger of losing out from playing your best.

This time is way different. Either United or West Ham are going to have a week to prepare for us. And Wembley will get into the legs of players who played 3 days before.

This is an absolute disaster.
West Ham v Watford and Man U v C.Palace are rearranged for the same night as the Derby so all 4 semi finalists will be playing strangely enough,no matter who win the Hammers/ Utd replay.

Don't even give them a shred of respect before the semi final.

Howard

Pennington Stones GallowayBaines

Besic Gibson

Deulofeu Osman Mirallas

Niasse

Not one first teamed who would line up for the semi final there. That team though shows the current strength of the squad especially when you consider that Kone Pienaar Browning Dowell Garbutt aren't included in a second string line up.
And we would make Osman Captain, just to rub it in like

It's absolutely crazy that the Derby isn't a Tuesday

Also surprised it's on tv after the club explicitly said it wouldn't be

I don't know that it is on TV, I was just assuming it was to explain why it was Wed. If not, then pretty rubbish really because both EFC and LFC play on Sat 16th, so why couldn't it be the Tues?

kin ell, they'll be flying in with knee high challenges. There's no way we'll leave that pitch without injuries to a key player/players.

How can they even think of scheduling that so close to the SF?

Don't forget they see united as their biggest rivals so maybe we'll get lucky on that one!

It's on sky, the club said a while ago in no uncertain terms if it was rearranged that it wouldn't be on tv but obviously that's changed now

assuming all fit - lets throw this at the derby

Moyes got absolutely slaughtered for playing the reserves in a derby a few years ago, rightly so.

I'd much rather we played a good team and tried to build up some momentum. Imagine if we get tonked at Anfield and then lose the semi. The verdict would be SACK SACK SACK.

I was a fair bit away from Riyadh mate. I wouldn't want to go back to Saudi for any length of time, the only reason I was there was because I was on the dole in the UK back in the 80's and working out there was the only offer I'd had for months.

Sunderland is a bit of a desert in many ways too though, but they treat their women marginally better !

I went to primary school back in the day with a lad who claimed his dad was working in Saudi. When I grew up, it quickly became apparent that he was really in jail. Poor fella got shot shot dead in his business about 6 or 7 years ago. He was an honest businessman, just selling cars by Aintree racecourse. There was no need for the violence really.

I'm guessing @davek that you said this slightly tongue-in-cheek however, the genuinely worrying scenario is some dip5h1t yard-dog like Milner, Charlie Can, Moreno or Horrendouson will go flying into a tackle and we might lose an influential player from the semi (and final).

This may sound like an early over-reaction to this scheduling, but I'm already fearful of the potential of such a scenario happening - the tinder-box atmosphere of a 'derby' could very well and all too easily be ignited, both on and off the pitch.

Maybe, we should field a 'second string' team in the derby - after all, our 'second string' actually ain't that bad.
