Without Whelan's money Wigan would go back to their non league roots they have no chance of building a big fanbase being virtually a pie making theme park between Manchester and Liverpool.

Extraordinary they got to the Prem in the first place but you could see Whelan cutting costs selling the best players reducing the wage bill by over 20% realising it couldn't go on. Well set for the lower leagues tho and hopefully they can make a few quid on the youth program Martinez set up.

Always amuses me when people lay Wigan's relegation solely at Martinez door.

Not going to happen, the FA did a deal with Wembley for semis for the next 20 yrs to off set costs of construction
