Eleven Sports could be in trouble

Can't help but feel that the correct response to this is, "meh, and...?"

Setanta, ITV sport, and now Eleven. Outside of the premier league and the big late stage CL matches, who really cares enough to pay? I wouldn't watch la Liga if it was free, not because I think it's rubbish, but because I'm English and spend enough time with that without getting involved in the same nonsense but in a different language. I remember Channel 4's Italian coverage only because football wasn't on every day back then so it was interesting to watch.

I probably wouldn't pay to watch another sport.

I feel sorry for kids at home who don't get to watch cricket or tennis or any sports of note, because they've been syphoned off to pay tv. Whose going to inspire them to go out and play?

Good point

If you watch all of the Premier League and Championsip football across both SKY and BT on most weekends, that's roughly 5-6 matches

Who really has time for other League's once you've watched all that? Who even has the stamina for MORE football after watching it all?

I don't even have the time for more than 1 whole match and that's only if it's Everton. Match of the Day is about as much as is needed in my house. My kid has more appetite for it, but if it weren't for him, or watching it when I visit my dad, I wouldn't see any other sport now - maybe the odd boxing match excepted.

Anyway, feel sorry for all the staff involved at Eleven Sports, and it can't be a good situation for them, but I really do wish the bubble that sports are in would slowly deflate such that we were a nations of sports men and women doing it for the fun of it as well as the health benefits, rather than to fill the coffers of some tv company. I shall stop ranting now. :)
