It's lack of footballing brains not a lack of effort.
Baines? How can you lack effort if you’re injured?
I honestly feel like most of them have been putting the shifts in (to a degree) with a couple of notable exceptions.
Fraud for being genuinely injured after 10 seasons. He hasn't tried his body back into perfect working condition, the coward
Thats it then, i am officially calling out Everton FC for damaging my mental health! The season started back in July and we've played 41 games since then in the League and Cup. Baines played in 20 of them before he got injured at Southampton.
We need a midfield maestro to conduct the orchestra. It's lack of footballing brains not a lack of effort.
Tough for me to decide whether it's lack of effort, poor coaching or the player just being gash.
Quantified maybe, but not easily - miles ran, tackles made, sprints etc - an elite player can superficially be on target with all this stuff and still basically be coasting. Looking busy all game but never taking a risk to make something happen. Playing at 98% but never prepared to properly turn themselves inside out to stop a cross or show for the ball [although they'll pretend to]. Guarantee that Morgan's stats this season will not be significantly out of line with what is expected of that position in the prem, but any one of us can see that his commitment is an affront to the Royal Blue Jersey.Effort can be easily quantified with today’s technology.
It will come a time when fans will be able to access all those running, sprinting, passing, tacking stats almost immediately following a game. The Clubs pour over these for hours in the week leading up to a match.
It would be very interesting to analyse our stats this season in comparison to our opponents in each game.
The results would go far in helping us all determine whether there is a genuine lack of application on the pitch or the three managers we’ve employed are simply unable to set up their teams properly.
Or ........
The players are unable to take instruction & not willing to put a proper shift in.
