Effectiveness of Tim Cahill

So its gone from a halfway line overhead scorcher, to a tap in, to just making a pass. Its like hearing Sky's hollywood analysis and then reading The Telegraph at the breakfast table the next morning.

We can't just blame attacks breaking down on Cahill, nor can we say that he's not an effective player. So he had a bad season last year, so did most of the team, in fact only Howard, Baines, Coleman and Jagielka really had a good season. We had a slow start and the fans just became negative, I think we need to really need to get behind the squad this season, our negative attitude will effect the way they play, would you do your job well if 40,000 people where sat around you criticising your every move? No.

Oh and it's not Kenwrights fault that no one wants to invest in us

I never have and never will criticise Tim Cahill. He has his limitations but thats what happens if you dont play to his strengths. Great player, great pro, great role model and all round top chap.

He was played as Striker and wasn't utilised as much as he could have been, but his work rate was amazing. Has more spring in his step then he has for the past couple of seasons. I reckon you could probably expect one of his best seasons if he stays fit.

Took his goal very well last night.

Busted his balls during the Villareal game too, get some crosses in for him and he will pounce.

If we had someone like LD on the other flank then to be honest I wouldn't be so against having a Cahill-centric attack force. It's just that with no pace or diversity in our attack I think the rigid 4-5-1 kills us.

There's no doubting his talent though. And his goal last night was so good he made it look easy.

Agreed fella, and you know i'm with you on the 4-4-2 at home, too.

If we want Cahill to thrive in an attack, Moyes just needs to remind players that crosses are what he lives on, only Baines seems to know this.

It doesn't help that Arteta seemingly forgot how to loop a cross last season, either.

That's a good point. If I see 'tets take another set piece over Baines I'm going to fume. Baines has proven why he should be our first choice corner, free kick and penalty taker.

I wish Arteta took the free kick against Chelsea last season in the cup, would have saved us the despair of having to get knocked out in the next round.
