limpar was in and out of the team under royle and had a lot of quiet games. On his day he was unreal though. He wasn't great every game far from it .

Gough was one of the golden oldies we signed but yes was class.

Dacourt was class but with a terrible disciplinary record.
he got some ridiculous bookings off refs,I recall him being marginally offside down at Wimbledon, lobbed the keeper, scored, got booked for timewasting and then missed the derby the next game!

I remember the one game we got from Gazza away at Leicester,we only drew but he ran the game,as you say pity it was way to late in his career.
i thought Ginola was going to be a star for us. Remember reading we had signed him on the back of the echo when visiting someone in hospital and the next game (arsenal) he started and hit the post after 20 minutes.

It seems hindsight (or many other people) tell me he was terrible here lol But at the time, a 11/12 year old me at most had seen Ginola and Gazza on the front of FIFA games or at the international tournaments and believed there was the chance we got them instead.

didnt gazza have a great game vs Boro as well?

....Paul Power was said to be past his sell by date when we got him but what a signing he was for 12 months or so.
Who did he play his debut against? Can't find it anywhere.I was working abroad and saw him in what I think was the season opener against Norwich. He could take a good corner.

.....not sure, Matey, but he was like a racehorse galloping up and down that left wing. My memory isn't great but I think he played LB when Van de Hauwe covered the CB position so brilliantly.
