ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

a year later, they queued round the block to get (now of the Murdoch entourage) Carragher's autobiography.... ghost written by one C. Bascombe. Consistent of them though...and another for the 'Special Dispensation/That Doesn't Count Though, La' file .

That the same carragutless that tweeted quotes/stories from the currant bun?

Not sure they count, neither. Bunch of slimy, backsliding, hypocritical mutants.

All this talk about liverpool rejecting bids for benteke. Would he even want to go there? It'd be hilarious if the clubs agree terms and he says, nah you're all right, like picking up my £8m for doing sweet fa.

What is obvious is that Liverpool need to sell, if benteke digs his heels in then don't be surprised to see coutinho pimped out.

borini did that didn't he. Was a good laugh, until they fluked a massive fee for him the next summer. I think teams need to realise, just because liverpool paid such a massive fee for a player, that doesn't automatically mean they're worth close to that figure when they flop. Why are palace willing to pay pretty much the same as what liverpool paid when he's been a flop? He should be £15m tops.

News thump........

‘Win our remaining games and the title is ours’ insists Liverpool’s Henderson

With just 37 games to go until the end of the Premier League season, the maths is simple: Liverpool are in control of their Premier League destiny.

After an opening weekend victory over Arsenal, all they need to do is win their remaining games and the 19th league title that the club has craved for a quarter of a century will be theirs.

Unlike previous near misses, such as 2009’s late rally when the reds were banking on Manchester United slipping up during the title run-in, or 2014’s goal difference-fuelled three-way battle with Manchester City and Chelsea, Liverpool are now firmly in the driving seat.

Not since 1990 has top flight league silverware graced the Anfield trophy room, but now, with the title in their grasp as they enter what Sir Alex Ferguson famously called “squeaky-bum time”, that could all change in just nine months.

But being in touching distance of the Premier League trophy, the pressure will surely mount ever more between now and the end of the season on the champions elect.

Manager Jurgen Klopp summed up the mood at first team training at Melwood this morning: “It’s nice to be in control of our own destiny and not have anyone have too many games in hand over us.”

Captain Jordan Henderson added, “Who would have thought that at this stage of the season we’d be masters of our own fate? To be this close: we can finally dare to dream.

“We go again. Just 37 more times.”

Love that Moreno article. Klopp hasn't recognised a left back he wants to add ay? Impressive how he can be at the club the best part of a season and not identify a single left back on the planet he could bring in. Great stuff.

Something's definitely going on there with Klopp and stuff behind the scenes. I can't work out if it's Klopp or the board but from the outside it looks alarming. Kopites who are not known for being ultra-critical of their players can't stand Moreno. He is the weak link and a terrible defender. Yet they are not buying players to cover for him. Irrespective of what they say, Klavan is not that impressive.

For me it's either Klopp doing a bit of a Wenger and refusing to pay the current market rate. Or alternatively the board are beginning to reign the purse strings in.

didn't they let that youngster (brad smith?) go as well, despite them thinking he was the next big thing? Didn't he go to bournemouth or something?

They just got a bid turned down for £25 million for Mahmoud Dahoud yesterday,so they still look to be spending,i can't see how they have money issues.

From his dortmund team he really likes fullbacks to bomb forward,Moreno is good outlet for that as he was a winger coming through Seville, his defensive side of his game is pretty awful though,no spatial awareness for whats going on around him,if anything Klopp loves developing playersmaybe he thinks he can do that for Moreno and sees no need to strengthen there and sees a need for CM with Dahoud.

I expect teams to be targetting Moreno though, constantly attacking his side of the pitch especially when he moving up the pitch with play, teams will exploit the gap behind him.

The rumour is they're getting sold and FSG are reigning in the purse strings cos they're about to sell up.

APLT is in, yep you guessed it.....

Id have thought that Moreno's swansong wouldve been his performance in the Europa Final. Though any attacking flair is a bonus, a full back's raison d'etre is his defending prowess. Considering Klopp wouldnt up the bid for young Chilwell and the reluctance to reduce the price tag on Benteke, it does look as though the RS purse strings have tightened.

They're banking on selling Benteke. Any further purchases will be financed by his sale. Not just the fact they need the money, they can't afford to pay his ridiculous wages.

Im surprised Liverpool need another CM though, don't they already have henderson, can and wijnaldum?!

Oh right, I see lo.

By and large the kopite wont is to over praise their players to insane levels (most notably when they're injured). However, they usually scapegoat one or two players. They can pin all the under achievements on these players, if these players could just be replaced then surely they'd be title winners once again.

It's Moreno's time to bear the brunt.

They'll probably need another scapegoat to join Moreno now with Joe Allen going....ironically after his outstanding performances in the Euros... then they sell him. Thought it may have been Mignolets turn to get the blame for everything again but after him saving the pen at Arsenal in their first match of the new season, hes obviously now without doubt the best goalie in the Premiership.
