Steve Nicol vigorously defended the ref' and argued that Benteke was entitled to go down because there was contact. He said that
it wouldn't have been given in his day but they're given now.

Really? How many times have we heard a commentator say 'He went down too easily' when explaining why a penalty wasn't given?

The saying "entitled to go down" is applicable to Nicol's bird the simple faced ginger cockstash.

Didn't know this...

As the 1914/15 season drew to a close, Manchester United had to beat Liverpool to avoid relegation. The players came to an ungentlemanly agreement.

League football was set to be suspended for the 1915/16 season due to World War One. Footballers, on much lower wages than those today, faced a summer without pay and years in the trenches. Before a game at Easter, players from the two teams met to fix the result: 2-0 in United’s favour with players betting at odds of 8/1. The game saw missed penalties, team-mates arguing and an angry 18,000 crowd. An investigation saw a number of players given life bans, with one later jailed for conspiracy.

Well I never

There's gonna be many a kopite I know gon' get popcorned with this one:cool:

You might not have known it but I suspect that you weren't surprised when you read it.

Alot of talk aboit ballotelli but how about markovic their £20mil new ronaldo?

Their squad is really so poor it will be interesting to see how klopp des with some of his own signings who will play one way and the rest of the squad who cant play his way as they arent good enough.

£65mil for Suarez could be eclipsed by Aubemeyang at dortmund this summer...

In a swoop on organised crime in Dublin today it has been reported

"It has been reported in the Irish Independent that in one of the houses, a betting slip for €38,000 on a Liverpool football match for tomorrow night at odds of 7/4 was seized."

Hmmm
