ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

from an unbiased perspectitve.

Last night was the first proper time i had seen klopp's liverpool play. Tactically they are good, high tempso, always moving the ball forward and looking to create a chance quicker and get it into the box. the fact they cross the ball more due to their striker is another sign klopp knows what he is doing. all in all from the manager persepctive they are actually not bad.

Untrue, they started off at 100 % pace trying to catch stoke cold, after 15 mins they ran out of puff and ideas and generally struggled thereafter to create anything going forward, 1 shot on target in 120 mins is testament to that fact.

the problem lies with the players they have, they are all so poor compared to their price tags. I could run a list off of players who looked terrible last night, too many average players grouped together. Benteke running channels as well as being the target man made no sense, firmhino invisible, midfield had nothing to it, lallana poor again. It was almost as if you pull a few players out and put better ones in and liverpool look like they could threaten to be a good team. the squad needs gutting again which will cost them a lot of money to do so (silver linings here)but it's not going to be an overnight job for them.

looking at stoke, they were decent but feared what liverpool could do which cost them. when they attacked they looked dangerous but they were far too reserved to do anything other than hope to counter all game which even drifted out. Only stoke are to blame for why they arent in the final.

(side note- liverpool are nasty snidey so and sos now it seems, a few tackles and bookings were just horrible and done to keane/viera type would see them knocked back down the tunnel if they dared to do it to them).

Shaqiri looked poor as well, Allafey from what i saw looked the real talent in their team. He is the player we missed out on, although similar to mirallas so probably not.

Bolded bit above.

Been saying it from the start their names on this cup. My only hope is that the large wembly pitch kills their high tempo pressing game. Although when did they ever need to play well to win. If they do go on an win it the rubbish about klopp and them being "back" will be vomit inducing.

Not looking forward to these 2 games in the least. There's no chance that lot will mess up from 1-0 up. And then of course we will get hammered minus Mo - and in the event of a minor miracle we have a month of them lot reminding us it's 8-0 in post war finals and semis. (Yeah ok it's 1-1 in Charity bloody Shields but we aren't going to win the argument by saying well actually it's 9-1 not 8-0)

2 FA Cup finals
4 Semis (1 replay)
1 League Cup final (1 replay)
1 Super Cup

Aggregate goals 9-25
Thanks for reminding us .

No really, thanks

They are every bit as bad or as good as us, depending which way you want to look at it.

I wouldn't be fearing them at Wembley at all, we easily have the players to beat them. What I do worry about is the aftermath of a defeat there, not just to have to listen to those blerts going on about it for months on end but also the inevitable media Kloppfest that would ensue.

But let's get there first. Plenty of work to be done tonight.

If we go out tonight its gunner be a ghost town in here!

I despise Klopp already, he's not funny either. The utter cart.

I just find it hilarious that if a manager leaves his technical area he can be sent to the stands, yet klopp can run onto the pitch and up and down the touchline.

Yellow card for taking your shirt off but nothing for running past the away fans celebrating and onto the pitch is okay...........

Sky love it so its fine.

The RS have now won 14/17 penalty shootouts taken part in. They've won 5 finals on pens. Lost none.
Of their last 6 trophies, 4 were won on pens, 1 with Golden goal own goal, and the other was Owen's final where they were battered but scored 2 late goals. Hate them!

Didn't realise it was actually that bad.

Penalty shootouts are not entirely up to luck, but come on. That's an 82% success rate, devil's team.

Only one from Belfast thst I know off.

Elisha Scott.

But he was a Prod so would not have fit the bill for exclusion.

Which us ironic as Lish went back to Bekfast and became reviled as a traitor among Protestanf Linfield fans when he became the manager of the Catholic team, Belfast Celtic and remained so for many years after they were forced out the Irish League due to sectarian violence.
I meant the boat sails from Belfast not that all the players that played for them were from Belfast.

no it isn't; file under urban myth. People might assume this based on rangers and celtic and based on the city having large representations of both factions but all it is false logic.

And is why this sort of stuff has to be regularly jumped on and squashed. There's enough trouble in the world without making up more

I think the OP was making the point that there is this myth in Ireland that they've always had this long tradition of Irish players - which is clearly not true.

It is odd also that while Man Utd, Everton and many other clubs, particularly in the N West of England have always had a good lineage of Irish players, indeed many have a history of link ups with Irish clubs, they seemed almost to ignore football in S Ireland. Staunton & Whelan are the only two I can think of that went direct from Ireland to them.

I'm not saying that is evidence of sectarianism in the slightest, just that it belies the myth of tradition of them having a rich tradition of Irish players.

I'm with you mate, after the last one, I was stuck behind a car full of kopites for about 3 hours on the M1. In the back window they had cut outs of Slippy, Dracula and Dogleash grinning and moving from side to side. It was more painful than the game.
We always seem to choke, when we get there.
