Terrible blow for Gomez, that. He looks a decent enough prospect and was benefiting from good first team experience, similar to Galloway and Browning here. Never nice to see. Hope it doesn't have any kind of lasting effect on his career.

I think I remember a legendary story in WSAG fanzine years Smithy was playing in an away European tie in Eastern Europe somewhere,the crowd were quite hostile and stuff was getting thrown on the pitch,anyhow Smiffo goes down like the proverbial sack of clutching his face,lying flat out on the turf and nearby is the missile,a bottle,a plastic bottle,the ref throws the offending "missile" to the touchline and tells the "iron" to get uplol

And then there's a tale, no idea if there is/was any truth in it, about Bernie Wright allegedly one punching Smithy unconscious after what could be loosely termed as being 'a domestic.'

On the face of it i would agree with you. However notice his backtracking recently saying he needs time and also mentioned about not expecting such attention and not enjoying it...

That tells me hes appalled.

Ancelotti just seems to me like a nice chap who treats players like human beings whilst having great tactical acumen.

I doubt he needs the hassle of liverpool when he's such a highly respected manager. Also of course will know them from managing chelsea and probably just didnt want to tarnish his reputation.

In this crazy world we live in, someone you've never heard of or will probably never meet, feels, as a Liverpool fan, that its ok to write to you on an internet page to say welcome. But here I am, and there you are, somewhere, preparing for the Spurs game today.

I've read about your upbringing, it must be very odd to have your everyday shared with millions, your history available for analysis and comment by strangers, and then to be called 'crazy' by these people who haven't a clue. One of my good friends at uni was from Sweden and was a great guy. Man U fan though as he lived there a bit before coming to the states. Although he did say Moyes belonged at West Ham haha
