But a high proportion of fans do this. Maybe not as brazenly but lots of fans change allegiances, have their allegiances wane, go to another club in the area they moved to

How can anyone like that call themselves a fan. If someone left Everton for another team and then after a while said he wanted to come back, I would tell him where to stick it.
