Baines' left foot
Player Valuation: £90m
he's better than johnson from what i've seen of him.
I have a few ideas, but the swear filter will be on overload. lets just say he probably wanted to work for an amazing chairman like bill kenwright *sigh*, similar kind of chairman to Jenkins and Whealan.
Mind you, your owners have been great, provided plenty of funds, backed rodgers when he was under fire and gave him time.
I think Johnson is the better player personally.
It seems fashionable to criticise Johnson, possibly because of his very large price tag. But he's a good full back. He's amongst the top 5 right backs in the league I think.
I was actually unaware of any of this. Perhaps the owners are more savvy than I gave them credit for.
Apparently, Martinez didn't want to work with other people when selecting transfers. That control was important to him, and I assume he got it at Everton.
My theory is, and this is only my theory. Is that they spoke to a few people about the job on the basis that a director of football would be involved with transfers. Martinez ran a mile and Rodgers didn't fancy it either, so they changed their minds and dropped the idea of a director of football, and hired Rodgers. Which order it was in (Martinez or Rodgers first choice) I can't work out but that's my take on it.
