ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

It's old hat most of all. Booing the national anthem. Talk about reinventing the wheel.

Welcome to the 1980s.
Thing os it wasn't as big in the 80s and you didn't have that cringeworthy Scouse Not English rubbish. Even though in the 80s Liverpool probably had real grievances with the establishment, unlike now when they don't have any more then anywhere else, now its just self pity attention seeking

It was a bigger thing because there was a greater pushback against the establishment.
Nowadays their tourist outsiders promote it to feel included, it's become part of their brand image and as such the whole 'anti establishment' thing is undermined to the point of ironic ridicule.

William was at Wembley as FA President the last time the RS did it so I wouldn't blame him having a say in it cos of the disrespect for his Grandmother. Par for the course for them and one of the unique RS selling points - spoiling things for every bleedin' one else.
The decision is more to do with the MET and other forces around the country, in line with mutual aid, needing thousands of officers for the next week or so.

Policing football matches AND undertaking the proposed events wasn't going to work. A by product of that is we don't have to see the RS shame our city.

Was in the pub yesterday two kopites sitting behind me. How quick they turn all the players are crap except Diaz and Nunez he’s actually world class on par with Haaland just doesn’t get the same service. Nearly pissed my pants laughing.

The realisation has set in. At their peak they had 4 world class players. Allison, VVD (pre ACL), Salah and Mane. Now they only have two and Salah is the wrong side of 30.

Klopp to his credit built a system that enabled solid functional players like Henderson, Milner to thrive and cover up the limitations of others (Trent) with their work rate and discipline. It led to supporters thinking some players were much better individually than they were. Trent’s defensive limitations were known but they have been exposed more due to the injuries and drop off of the midfield players.

I suspect they will spend heavily on the midfield. If the plan is to integrate Elliot and Carvalho long term they will need to sign some strong athletic players in midfield to complement them or they are going to get killed in transition. Personally I can’t see a starting role for Elliot long term. The game has evolved past him. Not dynamic enough to play in a front 3 and not good enough off the ball to play deeper. Will be at Brentford or Brighton in 2 years. The best they can hope for is top 4 and a domestic cup. Would be interesting to see what would happen next summer if they missed the CL

Met a RS at a friend's do last night. I now live in Leicestershire.

He recognised my accent. The conversation went like this.

Him: I support Liverpool.
Me: Really, I support Everton.
Him: Oh, I suppose you're going to go on about all RS fans being from Oslo. (He introduced this not me).
Me: Where are you from?
Him: Kettering.
Me: OK.
Him: I follow the RS because my dad does.
Me: Where's he from?
Him: London.
Me: Ok, right.

Conversation done.
