The most phoney and outrageous claim of all time is that Shankly was a socialist. He was an utter bellend who compared life with football and declared it wanting in comparison, instructed his players to go out and abuse black players, and made an infamous racist and thug his captain.
Chelsea fans were little scamps even in them days.More from the pages of history underlining the progressive nature of Kopites from football fans to Marxist cadre:
The visit of Liverpool to Doncaster Rovers on 30 March 1956 was very clearly one of a number of “lively” away affairs at this time. Rovers fielded the future stand-up comedian, Barnsley-born Charlie Williams, at centre-half—one of the very few black players in the English game in the 1950s. Williams, an ex-colliery worker of Barbadian and English dual heritage, later built a stage career in the tough times of the early 1970s out of “jokes” which reinforced his (mainly) white audiences’ nervous prejudices about ‘Pakis’ and ‘coons.’ But for four years in the 1950s, Williams was a resolute and regular fixture in the Rovers team—and an obvious target for racist attack. A letter from Doncaster to the Liverpool Echo on 4 April 1956 complained of concerted racism from Liverpudlians during the visit to Yorkshire. Williams had been, ‘reviled by a loud voice snug in the crowd; this being coupled with the colour of the player’s skin’. Stones and a knife were reportedly thrown.

This is the same Charlie Williams who later found success as a comedian. Used to love him in The Comedians on tellyMore from the pages of history underlining the progressive nature of Kopites from football fans to Marxist cadre:

It's tragic about the RS injury crisis. These things never happen to the likes of Chelsea, who are only without Lukaku, Werner, Mount and Alonso. What's the small matter of your entire strike force missing compared to the several brave Liverpool players callously gunned down as they went about their heroic business on the pitch? Honestly, I'm so angry, I could push a wall!
This could be the week when Liverpool crumble in the PL and decide to target the CL alone...which you can do with a small and very good first team squad.
City looked back to their imperious best and lead Liverpool by two points; Chelsea will get 3 points later and open up a 6 point gap on Liverpool, leaving them with a tough looking one away to keep up.
