ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

I don't think anyone is saying they are starting as a pair. Everyone would accept VVD would start. Matip is not that great. Before VVD arrived he was quite limited, and on the occasions VVD doesn't play he looks quite limited. If he was at Everton, playing next to Keane he would look a different player, as would Godfrey or Mina next to VVD. Matip makes MIchael Keane look rapid on the turn! I don't think there's much between them, Gomes and Matip. I'd probably throw Keane in there too but he's inconsistent.

And it's fair enough to say over a season, but last season we had an unparalleled injury crisis (the worst in the league by some distance) and we finished within 10 points of them by essentially throwing it away with our home form. So over the course of a season it wouldn't be wholly unreasonable to suggest some Everton would be in the joint team. In fact it would be a bit illogical to assume some players wouldn't be.

Re the pair of Godfrey/Mina, I don't think anyone would suggest either get into any team ahead of VVD, even a VVD who is clearly going to be a bit more injury prone moving forward.

This all stems from my post where I said Godfrey, Digne, Doucoure, Gomes, Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison or Gray would get in a combined 11. This leave Allison, Alexander-Arnold, van Dijk, Fabhinho and Salah from them.

In goal Allison was at one time a country mile ahead but last season he had a fair few errors and Pickford seems to have reduced his that's why I said you could possibly make a case.

Full backs TAA is miles ahead of Coleman. At LB it's quite close but when VvD was missing you could see how much it hampered Robertsons game as he is not very good defensively.

Van Dijk is first choice CB and partnered by Godfrey. Mina would be my 3rd choice and Gomez my 4th.

In midfield I have Allan against Fabinho. I have Doucoure against Thiago Silva and Gomes against Henderson. That's why I came up with the midfield I did.

In attack Salah comfortably wins on the right and DCL comfortably wins through the middle. Mane has been poor for a while now that is why I would consider Richarlison or Gray.

I see Clattenburg has rattled their cage in his new autobiography. Oh dear.

Mark Clattenburg labels Jurgen Klopp a 'strange bloke' as former Premier League referee opens up on German's failed attempt to intimidate him before crunch Anfield clash with Chelsea

In an exclusive extract from Mark Clattenburg’s autobiography Whistle Blower, the former Premier League referee opens up on his prickly relationship with the Liverpool boss...

Jurgen Klopp . Brilliant manager. Sour loser. I first came across him in April 2014. His Borussia Dortmund side lost 3-0 at Real Madrid in a Champions League quarter-final first leg. After the game, I came out of my dressing room and Real defender Marcelo and his wife asked for a picture. It was a private picture on their phone so I said yeah, no problem. Klopp walked past just as the photo was being taken. ‘Oh, so that’s why we got beat, is it?’ he said. He was not being humorous or friendly, he was being sarky. ‘You’re lucky you only got beat 3-0,’ I said. The fact we were in Madrid probably gave me a bit of bravado to answer back. It annoyed me when managers could not be gracious in defeat.
Klopp never took losing well. When he was winning he was happy, he was good fun. When things were not going his way, he got prickly.
My final game with Klopp was in January 2017 against Chelsea at Anfield. Managers rarely came into my dressing room for the exchange of team-sheets an hour before kick-off. On this occasion, Klopp came in with Jordan Henderson. It was bizarre, he stood and stared at me for about 30 seconds. I just stared back at him. I could see Jordan was a bit like, ‘What the hell’s going on?’
Did Klopp think I was stupid?
I was not going to be bullied by him. He left and all I thought was: ‘What a strange bloke.’

Quite.

What's worse than publicly being called a bellend?
Publicly being called a bellend by a massive bellend.

How about his for the absolute zenith of WHUM?

Get ready with your sick bag.

After seeing Harvey Elliot lose both legs to that landmine, Salah and Klopp are both traumatised, and in need of therapy.

Yeah right, so badly affected that they go out and rip Palace a new one today.

Liverpool forward Sadio Mane, speaking to BBC Sport: "I am lucky to have so many salbutamol inhalers and Herr Klopp's Special drinks to help me score so many goals against Palace. Most important thing was the three points. Right place, right time. I am lucky. And happy. Thank you to all the fans, club and staff and the PEDS industry. Without them I am nothing.

Andre Gomes shouldn't even be getting in our best XI, never mind theirs.

Come on mate be fair, they've seen two team mates killed in front of them in less than a year.
