ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

I'm with you dave - I see that as best case scenario for them today. No injuries, played a bit better, scored & some free weekends. Klopp might be happy enough about it highlighting how much the need another CB, if owners are for turning.

I dont think the owners or Klopp will care one bit. What's quite funny though is their fans got involved in it hook line and sinker. Going to show the mancs who's boss, put them in their place etc etc. Just been made to look stupid again, and theyve taken it pretty badly.

I'll be honest, I dont think the extra prep will have much difference. They had 8-10 days prep before West Brom and United in the league and it seemed to make them worse. It feels (to borrow a Granscian phrase) a bit of an organic crisis there to me.

What really struck me, is the mystique is gone from that Liverpool team now. The last 2 years I've seen United play them and look terrified. Lost before they got on the pitch etc. It didnt feel that at all today. Wan Bissakas bit where he sent Robertson to the chippy twice in a row exemplified it. Absolutely no fear whatsoever.

Finally someone from the media breaks the mould, ex liverpool player to, liverpool are badly missing Fabhinio at defensive mid. Is Thiago mobile enough to play the role and no matter who he was, he would be getting a rollicking off the team for ducking under that free kick, well said, off match of the day summary.

I'm not saying they wont cope, I'm saying that was a better day for Liverpool than United if you're focussing on the title race.

United = more games to come + injury to a key player
Liverpool = free FA Cup weekends + no further injuries
What about the psychological impact on the two teams?

No. I'd rather they were the ones who won and play more games and have a player facing a scan tomorrow.

That's because I have my eye on the bigger picture.

Solksjaer is a small time fool and underlined it with his team selection. When he sits in his office later he'll be thinking "Well, that was nice, but how do I fit another load of matches in, and who do I play in place of Rashford?"
Seriously never understood this way of thinking who as a fan doesn’t want to go to Wembley for the fa cup final there the days With your mates and kids that make it all worth while and you and they remember it forever .

Media turning on owners now

This is the most significant part to me. Maddocks threw them under the bus the other day and did so again today. Hughes wrote a scathing piece in the Athletic. Now that from King. The Echo has also slated them in their headline.

These people have been universally uncritical (with the exception of Maddocks who goes a bit either way on them) and acted as the FSG mouthpieces. That they are all turning on them, at the same time is significant and damaging for FSG.

Best case scenario for Liverpool it's a ploy to get a CB in. But even if they do, its likely the domestic season will have been torpedoed by the time it's done.

Worst case scenario, they have some idea of financial troubles down the road.
