ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Are you happy that they lost though....come on Dave, just enjoy today......
No. I'd rather they were the ones who won and play more games and have a player facing a scan tomorrow.

That's because I have my eye on the bigger picture.

Solksjaer is a small time fool and underlined it with his team selection. When he sits in his office later he'll be thinking "Well, that was nice, but how do I fit another load of matches in, and who do I play in place of Rashford?"

Thought tonights game showed about 1000% more intensity.

Which I guess probably proves your point.
It showed two teams going for it and not being cagey, because it's just the cup.

If there were PL points on the line there you'd have seen a tight game with not many chances.

I'm not saying they wont cope, I'm saying that was a better day for Liverpool than United if you're focussing on the title race.

United = more games to come + injury to a key player
Liverpool = free FA Cup weekends + no further injuries

Currently it just one confirmed extra game in which he can play his kids if he wants to. In the context of where they both are in the season, sending out a decent team and knocking out your big rivals and dealing another confidence knock was exactly the right thing to do.

Solksjaer wants any silverware. A cup will keep him his job. I expect him to send out the first team again in the FA Cup, unless they get a minnow after Rd 5. He's small time.

I'm with you dave - I see that as best case scenario for them today. No injuries, played a bit better, scored & some free weekends. Klopp might be happy enough about it highlighting how much the need another CB, if owners are for turning.

A good preparation for Spurs. I still think Spurs win on Thursday though.

I'm more concerned about United's fixture pile ups and injuries. Ditto City. That could let a relatively poor Liverpool team retain a title they dont deserve.

You may well be right but I was only replying in the context of the decision he made today on team selection
