ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

I think FSG are in it for the long haul. The valuation they want will not be met in the good times, never mind in difficult times of the next 4-5 years. Likely they may sell a bit of liquidity to the RB chain if they sell to anyone.

I'd imagine they can borrow against the value of Liverpool, and it's a great cash cow if all else fails.

Klopp will go first. The question is how much damage does he do on the way out.
Red Bull Liverpool? Sounds about right to me.

Its the narrative they like to put out,the St Pauli of England, the rags to riches story, the bestest fans, its all crap, the about as far away from a socialist club you could get, they have spent billions but you would think it was built from a Sunday league team, the bestest fans who have never known hard times,in 2005 they were staying away from games and calling for the FSW head, shower of gobshites
They do have this bizarre delusion that they are loyal supporters, United fans took as many if not more supporters when they were doing crap in the 70s and 80s. We've been crap recently yet still sell out every game and fill our away ends. We in the past used to take similar numbers to away games as Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs and City who were doing a lot better than us. Since 2016 it's been harder to get away tickets even though we're not, up until quite recently doing that well.

Obviously there was a greater demand for tickets at the RS and United but our fans have always been loyal. We've taken large numbers of fans across Europe as well, we still took large numbers to places like Benfica and Lille when we were pretty awful. We took decent numbers to Split, Borisov, Athens, Kiev, Kharkiv and a few other places. Then you have fans like Leeds, Newcastle, Sunderland and the Sheffield clubs who take large numbers anywhere they go.

Really with the exception of a poor run under Hodgson and a poor start and finish with Brendan Rogers, being a Liverpool fan for the last half and century has been pretty easy, yet they make out like they've really struggled. In the last few seasons when we've been rubbish we still stay loyal to Everton, we still go on the forums and have a laugh. When they lose, they lose the plot, sending death threats, when a player gets injured they make not just promises to hurt Pickford, but as Sean promise to hurt him. They obviously forgot about Dirk Kuyts karate kick on Neville.

This in spades, they’d love to be us because they know we are the ones to whom it means more. More than a trophy, more than a final day out, more than the false glory of pretending your heart is in it.
We know, they know

Even in the 70s when they were winning everything and we were very average we used to fill the away end everywhere we went I remember going to places like Burnley and QPR and actually filling the place to the brim.

My RS mate got it in one “don’t write us off just yet”

Until it’s mathematically impossible for them to win the league that’s the way I see it.

I’m completely of this school of thought as they’re experts at pulling out triumph out of the jaws of defeat. They’ll probably finish 5th but win the CL.

That being said, they don’t have much room for any more mistakes in the league. It’s unlikely that any points total in the 70s wins the league, so let’s suggest that as a minimum a team needs 80 points to have a chance. Liverpool would need 46 points from 19 games to get that. That’s about 2.4 points per game, effectively winning 3 and drawing one of every block of four games for the rest of the season. Of course it can be done because this los have reeled off multiple wins in a row in recent past seasons. Every team in the league looks incapable of getting on one of those runs of winning thirteen in a row now though.

For City they need 42 points from 20 games to get to 80. That’s 2.1 ppg which is effectively what they’ve been at for ages, even what they managed last season. If they beat West Brom next, it’s practically winning and drawing every other game would almost see them home.

We’re halfway through the season and they’re only 6 points off top. 19 games to play you’d be an idiot to write them off now.

Not writing them off at all. I never do. I’ve already said the De Bruyne and Aguero injuries could prove fatal. The maths are the maths though. If City were 4 behind having played a game more not many would be backing them though. Anything could happen though.

If we get Allan fit, the defence stays water tight, Richarlison starts scoring, and James lights up the league, maybe we’ll win it as the rest get distracted by europe. Spurs are still huge dangers given Mourinho’s experience, and United have firepower everywhere. It’s how it’s supposed to be really, anyone from the top 7 could win it.
