Ashley Cole is the best left back I've seen in 45 years watching football. As for the best Premier League centre back I'd say Ferdinand and then probably Sol Campbell.

We'll probably have to wait a while, but I hope in the meantime their samples are being stored. 10 years they can be held for and retested in that time. It'll probably happen when they've disappeared from the top of the English game again.

Ashley Cole is the best left back I've seen in 45 years watching football. As for the best Premier League centre back I'd say Ferdinand and then probably Sol Campbell.

Cole was the one player who always turned up for England at tournaments during that 'golden generation' side while the likes of Gerrard and Rooney went missing.
