That Andy Hunter piece in today’s Guardian (reporting Wijnaldum and Klopp’s comments) is verging on the scandalous.
Klopp is quoted as saying “At this moment there are only two people dealing with the consequences: Virgil van Dijk and Thiago Alcântara” which rather ignores the obvious (and correct) consequences dished out to Richarlison. Typical victims though, a 3 match ban for a straight red isn’t enough, apparently, despite their storied history of violent fouls in derbies going unpunished.

I only watched the first 2 minutes or so, had to turn it off.

Honestly never seen anything like this. What's coming out of that club is pathetic, and someone needs to link this to the level of abuse Pickford has been getting. Tossers like Wijnaldum seriously fanning flames here and need to wind it in. Klopp isn't doing himself any favours either. They did plenty 'kin wrong.

I am tired of the cry arsing now from the victims. 2 bad challenges, both clumsy more than cynical. There was more than one Liverpool player who got away with cynical fouls that should have been bookings at the very least; including the saintly Virgil's brutal attempts on James and DCL. The biggest thing that the PL need to clamp down on though was the accusations of cheating from Henderson - he should be investigated over that and I can see no justification that doesn't deserve a ban over that.
From the noises coming out of that shower, they're now showing a loser mentality and blaming circumstances out of their control for potential slips. We all know the aura of invincibilty has been seeping in there since just before lockdown in the asterisk season even with a full compliment of players. They're still a good team but they are eminently beatable. I can see them falling over completely soon - that's if you don't think Villa's 7-2 win over them wasn't the sign of that happening already.
I also suspect that it's also deflection to cover up the reputational damage that will occur when it comes out about how complicit they are in forming their closed cartel European Super League. A scurrilous club.
Also I think Everton need to come out with a clear statement, stating unambiguously that the current reporting and orchestration of online abuse and threats of violence against our players needs to stop.
