ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

That tweet by the Anfield Watch account asking for one word responses to a pic of the ref from the game was cringy enough to have my died in the wool, bitter red of an uncle to call them and the responses out under the official account of his charity RefSupport

Their fans love him, but they have vastly different expectations to a Real Madrid, for example, where the aim is not just to win, but to win well.

I’m not saying Atletico fans enjoy bad Football, that’s not the case, but they evidently haven’t had the silverware of their cross town rivals so, as you’d expect, they measure their success in other ways.

As the underdog, they relish those kind of gritty performances. And, although very admirable, they certainly aren’t one for the purists. That’s what Simeone has churned out there, very successfully, for the best part of a decade now.
they do play a rigid shape and favour the defensive side of the game. However I think they are incredible to watch there workrate, defensive shape and sharp tackling makes for boss snidery. Got some ballers in Koke, Saul and thomas Partey. just missing clinicalnes upfront and had bad injuries.

Apparently the Liverpool chief executive has been having to deal with requests from some fans wanting the club to sign Stevie Gerrard on a contract of around a week so he can play in a match and gain a Premier League medal.
It's obviously lost on these idiots that you need a minimum of ten appearances to qualify for a medal. In fairness to Gerrard I can't see him being up for this even if was at a loose end with nothing else to be at.
Does show the level of delusion in some quarters over there.
Proper hated Gerrard, but I really doubt that he'd be the type to be up for getting a blag medal.

Sorry if its been mentioned, but with City winning last night, where does it leave them in terms of winning it at our place. My heads battered doing the maths

I >think< the permutations are as follows (assuming Liverpool winning their next 3 games pre-Derby vs West Ham, Watford and B’mouth)

If City get 5 points from Leicester (a), Man Utd (a) and Burnley (h) then Liverpool can win the league with a win in the derby. BUT, no guard of honour before kick off.

If City get MORE than 5points from those games, then it’s not possible for Liverpool to have wrapped the league up either at or before the derby. So 2 more wins and we’re sound.

If City get LESS than 5 points from those games, then they’ll be champions before kick off at Goodison and a guard of honour will be a talking point.

Essentially, for the nightmare scenario to take place, they’d still need City to drop points in TWO of those 3 admittedly tricky games.

Perhaps it's wishful thinking but, as inconsistent as City have been, and even with their eyes clearly on the CL games with Madrid, I can’t see them dropping points in two of those games.

Jimmy white doing a piece on Ath Madrid asking is it wrong the the way they play football, is simonone the anti christ to the way footy should be played....they have been going it for 10 years they have won la liga doing it, they have got to European finals doing it, and not a peep out of talksport about it, but you beat the rs and it's a crime.
The cheek of that lot , houlier won trophys with 10 men behind the ball, Benitez played for penalties in every competition 10 years of dreadful football forgotten, delusional as usual.

LOL. Just seen the shot by the Athletico player that missed by 4 feet. Macmanaman said '4 or 5 yards wide'. Weirdo.
One of the absolute worse commentators going, if you can even call him that. Always trying to chirp in with little quips or anecdotes towards his co-commentator. Nothing against people who have a relatively strong Scouse accent, but it's hardly an accent you should be using on national TV when the overwhelming majority of the audience can barely understand it.

Its put on it must be. Like the Anfield Wrap who have that digusting turboscouse accent

True.
For all we go on about School of Science, we'd lap up 10yrs of what passes for Altetico's gritty success
10yrs??
We'd settle for 10 games right now...especially if one was Vs the rs.
