ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Handballs etc, every single game has seen VAR on their side, its not rigged though and we are all paranoid

Their play is riddled with sly little fouls. Henderson gets away with it, VVD - as good as he is - is an expert in tugs and pushes, the latter more obvious than others. The two full backs are excellent in the counter, yet clearly ultra aggressive defensively and, as evidenced yesterday, much more immune to the referees attention than others. Its consistent too as they can clearly get away with it.

You can see how deep it runs by how MOTD totally brushed it off. It’s a red card all day but they replay it once and dismiss it.

Sound like a member of the foil tin hat brigade if you suggest VAR corruption and/or doping are genuine possibilities but it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if it came out years down the line.

That should have easily been a red, if he was not wearing red, disgusting little, faux hard man, love him to do that to someone like big Dunc, but that coward, who dodges playing for his country, carefully chooses his targets. Disgusting that this is all being brushed quietly under the carpet by friend's in the media. Can't wait for Dermot the sky media ref to say good fair challenge, nothing to see here.

The only thing that stopped the Robertson one being a red was that he got the ball cleanly first, it was the follow through that was nasty. Still, he should have got a 2nd yellow for kicking Alderweireld on the half way toward the end.

Not getting into an argument with you Kieran, but that was a red all day, for the intentional follow through just on its own, where he clearly caught the leg. You can forget the dangerous lunge in the first place.

I dont get why their full backs get so much space. Make them play through the middle

Because their full backs starting position is always so wide, to go man for man on them forces your full backs out wide, which leaves a chasm between your LCB and your LB and the same on the other side, which is what Mane and Salah exploit.

The only way to stop that happening is to go 5 at the back (5-3-2) But that means you lose the extra man in midfield and very few midfield 3’s possess the strength, discipline and energy that theirs do. So managers often drop one of the strikers back (5-4-1) to balance that battle too.

But that ultimately leaves your 1 striker isolated, with a thankless task against the best back 5 in the game. They are pretty close to a flawless team right now, which is why they’ve been so hard to beat over the last 12 months. It’s not quite as simple as “forcing them to play through the middle” which, with respect mate, most managers would have thought of.

How can you determine intent?

I’m not saying it wasn’t a red by the way, I’m saying I can see why it wasn’t given a red because he got the ball cleanly first. If he goes over the ball, misses it and connects then it’s a red all day (ala Aubamayang), but he didn’t.

Won the ball, followed through with intent, conned the ref by doing a Suarez, pretending to be injured. Should have been a red card, no doubt about it.

We all know they are going to win it so when they finally cross the line it is just going to be forgone conclusion maybe it's better this way than winning it with glorious finale.
I would like to offer my congratulations to Sky for such a wonderful achievement hopefully next year they will present the title back to there other favourite cash cow Manchester United.

100% more bearable than of they had won it last season. At least this season everyone is already resigned to them winning so by the time it happens we will all be used to it.

Hopefully it will be the biggest anti climax to a league title being won.

I think thays exactly what it will be like mate, not for that lot for sure but for the rest of the football community no one will be arsed by mid March/April once its official.

We'll Probably see some VAR decisions go against them as well just to make it look like decisions even themselves out over the season.
