I vaguely remember a story from around then of a brutal attack on a Dutch guy by a Mackem, is this related? Was a leg not lost in the attack? Something else is coming back to me, I heard the Mackem was rabid and just wanted to maim the greatest ever, and he took the leg as a trophy?

If somebody can enlighten me, if these incidents are related as it wasn't really in the news or mentioned, at all?

Didn't all the football commentators, journalists and pundits tell us the reason Van Dijk was the greatest, was because he could 'read the game and get in position to snuff out danger'. You are supposed to read the game better with age like Beckenbayer and Moore. He seems to have gotten worse. Or maybe he never really had it after all and the LFC dominated media looked the other way, or blamed another player, for his failings. Either way, he's getting found out because he's overrated and over the top.
