ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

Don't get me wrong - I would like to see Everton compete in and win this competition. However even if we did it would not bring me the same feeling of greatness and joy that winning the cup-winners cup brought in the 80s. I will explain why.

It's a micky mouse cup because it is now a diluted product simply designed to acquire cash from a bigger, maximised pool of supporters and fans. The European Cup was the pinnacle club competition in Europe - one which the rs won 4 times - good on them the vermin. To win that first you had to be champions, then you had to beat other champions.

However to maximise revenue the cherished competition was then opened up to include swathes of runners up. Now, as has been demonstrated, you can be 'called' champions by not having actually been a champion in 30 years, and beating a team that hasn't been a champion in nearly 60 years. Furthermore, in the process of getting to the runners up final you can actually be beaten.... A few times. Of course this keeps certain brands on show and maximises revenue.

It's the equivalent of saying - take an toen's intra-schools sports event. Rather than selecting the best runner in each school to compete, why not let everybody have a go and charge them each £1 entry. 5p goes in printing the participation certificate, 5p towards the winners, and the rest to the organisers.

If you can't see that this has become a micky mouse competition behind a facade of media hype (the same Murdoch media that profits, script writes and manipulates it) with the explicit aim not of sporting greatness, but of diverting vast swathes of hard earned money from the fans towards Murdich's empire, with his handsomely paid mercenaries, then i can recommend some interesting reading. Just google the story "the emperor's new clothes.'
Who are you? Who are you to suggest such things? If I knew you, if only I knew which pub was your local I would be down there next chance I got and buy you a pint. Absolutely on the money with that. (Easy for me to say from the other side of the world but the thought is there)

Also 2 of those 6 were not won as champions so they don't count. It's a lucky mouse cup now, whatever the hype.

This is why they are the thickest fans in the world. They'll go on about how City and money have ruined football but not realise that a manufactured tournament like the 'Champions' league allows them to lose 4 times and still count that as important than previous European cups. They want to be seen as not part of something that they are the main players in. It's only the fact they haven't had the success that their money should have brought that they think like this.

The weakness of the way teams crumble to comebacks just shows how much of a joke it is. Barca are supposed to be the best in the world but they've crumbled 4-0 in consecutive seasons.

There were two things I learnt last night. 1. Even putting a pound on them (after Barca game) to win last night didn't put the mockers on them. Literally the first football bet I've ever won!!! 2. My new girlfriend is a closet red and her whole family are reds!! It is fair to say my mood on waking wasn't good today

The like was for the first line. My deepest sympathy regarding the other one

In my eyes them winning last night making them immediately pronounce themselves the best team in Europe draws parallels with Portsmouth beating Cardiff in the 2008 Fa cup final.
Were they then the best team in England / Wales??

They did get 97 points in the League as well. They didn't just fluke some cup competition. They are an awesome team with a fantastic manager and their whole club is pulling in one direction (even if I dislike the whole narrative they have built up).

97 points and the Champions League would be the greatest season in our history.

Still think the fix was on at the pit - Barcelona not scoring a single goal stunk to high heaven - corruption is rife in football now - too much money breeds it without a doubt.
Look at the likes of Mane for the first 60 minutes last night he looked coked to the nines - doping is happening I fear, but the authorities seem powerless.
Maybe we will all look back at this in 20 years when maybe a whistle is blown from some brave soul as the darkest days of footballs history.
But probably not....

You're a mong. The CL is a lucky mouse cup? FFS no wonder other fans take the piss out of us.

I doubt you'd be calling the CL a lucky mouse cup if we'd have won it last night.
I think he perfectly well explained the reasoning behind his believes. Personally think he's spot on with it.

Also is there really any need to resort to resort to insults for expressing his opinion?

I can't see anyone being rich enough to bribe a team full of millionares and still be able to turn a decent profit.

The champions of Europe who haven't been champions of England for 30 years. Beat a team who haven't been champions of England since 1961. Neither of them have ever won the premier League. And they had to rely on yet another dodgy penalty.
