ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 2

Yesterday I heard from one of the Manson's: "Not one Spurs player would get into the Liverpool team".

I'd say it's more like this...

Joint Spurs-Liverpool team:

Lloris

Trippier Alderweireld VVD Robertson

Ericksen Henderson Alli

Salah Kane Mane

An interesting point, but there's no way on this earth that Trippier gets in ahead of Trent, or ahead of pretty much any other Premier League right-back. The lad is absolutely awful.

And he cuts his hair with a tin opener.

Love how the RS at work seem irked that three other English teams have qualified for the European finals and dared to take away their two weeks or so of media fluffing from them as in reality they are just another finalist. They thought it was going to be all about them.

Anything less than their usual 90% football coverage and they are up in arms. Media 'bias' against them is their stock in trade when they dare talk about any other team. Now there will be three sets of supporters who will be moaning and complaining about the rs dominated media.

Coutinho won't play 100 games for Barcelona. He will be sold before he reaches it guaranteed. They haven't won the Champions League this season, and definitely won't next season. So they definitely won't be getting close to £146m.

Oh and £146m is about £100m overpriced - he's bang average.
£46m is bang average? Aye carumba! :p

Get lucky that a once in a generation striker came out of the academy at exactly the same time they’d just received a huge windfall from selling their best player and the top 6 were in such disarray that their nearest title challengers were Leicester and Arsenal?
Joking apart, there is a lot from Spurs that we should take on board and I actually think that we are closer to that model under Moshiri (post Walsh) than before him. If this is by understanding what they did well or just by trying to be a bit more exacting over various parts of our business, I have no idea.

I agree that they're dross but cant see them getting big money for any of them.

Shaqiri is on about 100k a week. Nobody will match that so think he'll see his contract out.

Lallana is 31 and only has one year left. Think he's going to be another one who slips away for free.

Origi - tbf I think hes ok and with Sturridge (another free!) leaving in the summer it would leave liverpool short. With just one year left I can see him using this as leverage to secure a lucrative contract.

Clyne- another one with just a year left on his contract. Had injury problems and isnt that young.

Harry Wilson is hopeless but unfortunately has signed an unmatchable contract at liverpool, keeping him there until 2023. Liverpool wont even get compo for him.

Not sure what a Ryan Kent is. Grujic is doing worse than Keira in the Bundesliga.

That's a lot of talent that could literally never play another first team game between then and all leave for nothing.

The coutinho sale papered over a LOT of cracks. It's a shame really. Especially if they end this season potless.
Ryan Kent is what the Chinese toffees call Bill Kenwright. I've came over all Danny Baker. Great bunch of lads.

They hired a top quality manager who then went out and recruited big tall fast players. Exactly the same as what Liverpool did. We hired a Dutch fraud who went out and wasted money on slow short weak players.

Silva seems to be rectifying that a bit with Mina Richarlison Zouma all the right profile.

As we’ve seen this week though, continental footballing teams have no answer to premier eagle teams with 6 foot 4 giants running incredibly fast for 90 minutes.

I am not sure this is entirely right. If anything the shorter teams have had more success than the taller teams.

In 2017, we were ranked higher than City.

20. City - 5ft 10.7in
12. Arsenal - 5ft 11.61in
11. Everton - 5ft 11.65in
5. Stoke - 6ft 0.244in
1. WBA - 6ft 0.71in
But City are anything but work shy.

A good big one will beat a good little one if everything is equal (probably).

Whilst I like the idea of a premier eagle team for really latching onto the high balls and I love to hate on Moonhead I'm not sure if they all have to be giants, but they probably do have to be hardworking and super fit. I think Ajax and Frankfurt showed they could withstand their premier league opposition technically, but Ajax particularly looked to run out of the steam (I only saw the highlights).

Pochettino was clearly a good manager and was ripe for taking a gamble on for Spurs, time will tell if it was the same for Silva. Mina, Richarlison, Zouma and Gomes all fit that taller profile, but I'd hate to live in a world were there's no room for Bernard in our team.

Spurs should be an inspiration to clubs like ours.

Ten years ago they had a midtable team and a small, antiquated stadium.

Now look at them.

Ten years ago Spurs managers were praising us in how we went about things on our budget.

tbf, the rs didn't force Barca to give them silly money, that was, for some reason, all their own idea.

Always make me LOL.

The thing is City and Arsenal weren’t slow and weak as well as short.

Interestingly, the only players that started over 6ft for the RS this week were GK, 2 CDs and the Brazilian fella in the Mid. What is your point? I’m genuinely confused. Your point is somewhat lost in that fact.
